Will definitely give that a shot. I hate wasting leaf and those use a bunch of wrapper. I will definitely be test drawing my bunches before wrapping when I do.

BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

So I rolled a few up today..... Hard to believe, right?
I decided to add a date band in addition to my blend band. For obvious reasons(?). Need to try your quarter method hop. Totally job ealous of your caps. They look great man! I have told myself I'm not buying a mold until I find a blend I dig. But these wrinkley-ish sticks are getting to me. I'm also letting them take a little bit longer of a nap than my previous rolls. They seemed to get bitter around the last third, and I attributed that to not being dry enough.. Any input on that would be appreciated. Gonna try to let them rest at least 2 weeks before smoking to see if that helps... BlahBlah! I'm rambling. Now for pics.

Don't give up. I need one of those and they look fantastic!Well... Operation lancero took a shit. Tried to smoke one last night but it was plugged to hell and no matter what I tried I couldn't fix it. I gave up after about an inch. What I could manage to draw and taste was promising though. Part of me wants to give up on these, but my stubborn side won't let me. I need to try a few more and see if they all have issues

As far as sticks being bitter towards the end, most of the time it is due to high humidity. I live in a very dry climate and get the best results dry boxing my sticks for 5-7 days after rolling then at least a week in the coolerdor. A few months rest can make a so-so blend come around, especially when you use larger amounts of ligero I have noticed. A one week old stick wrapped in Sumatra tasted like grass/hay, two months later that same blend wound up tasting like cream and salted pistachio. I have learned the hard way that I really need to try and let a new blend rest almost 2 months before passing final judgement. The only exception to that so far has been my toasted marshmallow blend which is good fresh and doesn't change much at all with some rest.
The best advice I can give any home roller is to roll a metric assload as much as possible. Way more than you smoke and or gift to make sure you have a stockpile always aging. Too much is not even close to enough.

Hey I definitely toned down the ligero in these four! Haha I'm just looking for that spicy full flavor smoke I crave. Surprisingly as much of that Habano ligero I put in a few of my first sticks, I still couldn't find it. Hoping the criollo and corojo deliver.
If you want spice you gotta go with Corojo. More body, strength, and spice than the other varieties IMO. Criollo and Corojo are a match made in heaven though, top it off with a SA wrapper and you'll get even more pepper.
Sumatra on that blend is pretty spicy too. I love that filler blend with all the wrappers I have put on it. I have something like that wrapped in Ecuadorian Habano ligero I need to fire up for "research purposes", I just need to go check the date when they were rolled to see if they should be ready for testing.
Either of you guys ever play with any San Vicente ligero?
Just rolled up some test blends last week with some that was gifted to me by @pjoyce. I won't have any input on it for a few weeks at a minimum. Everything I've read says it's mostly strength without affecting flavor.
Ahhhh. Just as WL says. That might be a real winner with what I have to work with. Just pulled mine out of the freezer a few hours ago. Going to give it a smell soon.
I haven't tried the sumatra binder but I've heard good things about it. Im a damn creature of habit Ive mostly just messed with different ratios/primings of corojo, criollo, and Nic habano with the same binder. Its not very adventurous but the range of flavors you can get from those 3 is huge. Im actually smoking a Nic Habano cheroot right now lol. 2 parts ligero and 1 part viso, about 46 RG. Sort of reminds me of the Padron x000 line. That Ecuadorian Habano ligero is tasty wrapper though and won't disappointment. Easier than broadleaf to work with but not as thin as SA. Burns well too!
Looking damn good man! My bet is on these 2 blends they look right up my alley.

Really been wanting to try out a cheroot. You know, roll one up about the size of a 'wild N mild' just to test a blend out. My nic seco came from LO since WL is out. They are also out of the nic viso.
And thanks man! I hope they are. Like I said, I found a perfecto mold I like in great condition. Just waiting on a good blend to pull the trigger. I'm wanting to let these rest at least two weeks.
Although with the ones I rolled today, I had my wrapper at a perfect case. My few before I feel like I had it over case, and it took it longer to dry out. These feel like I could smoke them right off the table... Here I go rambling again.

Looks like I figured out the proper fill for the mold @daleo8803 bombed me. These have to be the smallest figurados I've ever seen, but should still be able to get about 45 mins out of each one if smoked slow.

Do it just grab a leaf or two and roll it up! FWIW I remember a post where Saka said cigars need around 60 days post roll. They're good for a few days but afterwards they go through a bit of a sick phase and need some down time. Don't be afraid to light them up ROTT though fresh rolls are great.
Hmmm, so how does everyone age them? I know you should dry box them for a couple days, but then some people freeze them too.
