  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Are there too many Gurkhas?

Is it just me? Gurkhas everywhere! I have never tried one of those. They are on sale everywhere! You can’t get away from them. It’s like it’s raining Gurkhas. If ya buy a box of anything, they’ll throw in some Gurkhas for free! Is it me or are we being invaded by Gurkhas? I guess I should try one? Couldn't hurt, could it?

Yes, there are plenty RP’s out there. Vintage, Old World, Edge, many others too numerous to name here, plus a bizillion seconds and other forms of marketing.

This made me laugh...they are everywhere, aren't they.

I posted a thread or a comment about this very same thing a long time ago. But yes, too many different options out there for many different companies...Gurkha is just one of the most noticeable. I could come up with at least 10 companies like that. That's why I find myself smoking less and less non cubans these days. Way too much hype and marketing. And some of them have little discernable flavor from one another...maybe it's just my palate. I guess it's all lost on me.

There some great Gurkahs and some good Gurkahs. I've never had one that was bad. But I would never pay retail for any. They can be had on sale almost all the time.

I think there are way too many Gurkhas, although it could just be how much CI pushes them. They're always featured on sale and stuff. I also feel like there are a ton of Gurkha cigars marketed twice. Like the Symphony line, which was K. Hansotia and now it's Gurkha. But when they changed it they had a whole new marketing scheme.

Marketing shmarketing, they make some fine smokes. Maybe a bit pricey, but always available at a discount (more marketing?) Fat, complex, real tobacco, no gimmicks. There are an awful lot of fine smokes available these days, and believe me it was not always like this. But too much choice? Could anyone ever say that about hot women? Too many to pick from, I think I'll close my eyes and think of home. Like the old joke about the guy who wanted the ugly hooker. He wasn't horny, he was homesick! Well, I want the best smokes I can get. And I will never complain that there are too many different ones to choose from. I am about to go downstairs to smoke one. And I have plenty of choices, I like every single one, and they are already paid for. Am I complaining? Should I?

Picking a vitola out is a big part of the fun. The more choices, the more fun.
