  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Ok, guys, I read the forums every day but don't post. I am at the breaking point and need advice. This is one of my first posts. Here goes...

With the downturn in the economy I've got to cut back on my daily cigar expense. I'll save the nicer cigars to weekends and special occassions. But I am at the point I want to smoke every day, or every other day.

So my question is this, what is the best cigar that you've had that's under $2. I like the Drew Estate La Vieja Habana but it's over my limit at about $2.50. I think I remember the Flor de Oliva as being a little bitter but ok once they aged some but my local cigar stop doesn't carry them any more. I got the bundle for $23.95. Never been able to find them that cheap again.

The last bundle I purchased was the Robusto Occidental Reserves and they are the worst cigar I've ever had. Every one of them tastes like it was dipped in some chemical, like Lysol. They are awful. Any advice would be appreciated.

I was going to suggest the La Vieja Habana's, I smoke a Brazilian Maduro almost every day right after work because they're a quick smoke.

Secret Blend of Cuba's aren't too shabby for a cheap cigar. They're often wrapped a bit more loosely than I'd like, but the flavor isn't so bad.

The main one that still comes to mind is Padron Londres Maduro. Padron also make a natural but I prefer maduro in the regular line up. Holts carries a Pepin seconds product called the Fumadores and are on sale right now in all three sizes they make. Holts has a house blend that other like but not to my liking.

Thanks, Wagz, I'll have to try those Secret Blend of Cubas. Has anyone else had these?

Thanks Headbanger. I have one of the Londres in my humi but haven't had one before. Those Fumadores look pretty good.

HAHAHA!! AMEN! Best one I've had was a gifted Tat Black!

Otherwise, there is very little in the $2-3 range I've enjoyed. I would possibly go for a machine made at that cost. 5 pack of HavATampa Jewels, birchwood tips. Grenadiers. Gotta be careful, though, the machine made are smokable if they are still moist, but if they are dry, the experience sux.

Man, if anyone had found the recent deals on muti-box Habanos purchases lately, they could have found a number of boxes for $2/stick and under.

Some great deals out there fellas

I have to agree witht the LVH the maduros are very good, and cheap enough to toss out if needed...so you are not obligated to smoke'em...A few years back I purchased a buy 2 get 1 free at Corona Cigar of these bad boys...lasted forever...

I do prefer the Padron 3000 maduro, I can usually get a box of 30 for about $80-$90...so you do the math!

The best smoke that I can think of that also represent quality and good tobacco is the Flor de Ybor bundles in the sungrown wrappers. They just added to there line up the toro size for $52.60 for a bundle of 20. I smoke the #85 and belis and they are both great smokes. They are rolled by fuente so you know they top notch all the way! If you grab a couple of bundles it'll dilute the shipping costs and keep your cigars just over $2 per. As far as habanos if you ever find yourself out of the country and not under the watchful eye of some gman I would say the jose la piedra cremas and like the flor de ybors these get very very good with 2 to 3 yrs under there belt. The la piedras are about $1.75 when you can find them on sale. Hope that helps and enjoy your smoking experience.:smokingbo

You can't go wrong with the Sancho Panza maduro... As some people have said, it isn't a cheap cigar you want, but a really good price. Daily deals and auctions take a bit of time but the results are worth it if ya need to keep in a budget.

The best sub $2 cigar.... That's kind of like asking what's the best position to lay in for a colonoscopy. Even if your in the best position possible, it's gonna suck...

My best $2 cigar was a box of ST DuPont lonsdales. They were my first box purchase actually, and great at $2 each.

For a decent easily obtainable inexpensive cigar, search on CBid for REO, and you'll easily score decent cigars for maybe even less than $2.

As for my favorite "cheap" smoke, I always have some Punch Champions on hand (about $2.60 each).
