I just purchased a humi from cheaphumidors.com along with some beads. I plan on ageing some cigars, but heard that some are already aged and some ship more "green" than others. What would be a good cigar to age that comes closest to a Padron. Or would Padron's be a good canidate for long term ageing? Yesterday I smoked a Padron that was a maduro and had a price tag of about seven dollars it was hands down the best cigar I have ever smoked. What else might I like? Thank you guys for your help.

BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Funny, i was going to start a cigar aging thread today too!
What issues surround aging? Is it true that "celo off" is better? Does it matter what vitola it is (meaning do smaller sticks age faster, etc.).
I'm wondering which, if any, of my current favorites age well. I'm approaching a box worth of each of these, and am thinking of putting about 10 cigars of each at the bottom of my tupperdor to age them for 6 months and longer. So what do you guys think about how these will age:
Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve (both corojo and maduro)
Rocky Patel Vintage (both verieties)
Rocky Patel Fusion
Rocky Patel Signature
CAO Black
5 Vegas Gold
Gurkha Legend

I age quite a few cigars and some are about 2-5 years but when I read about some maduro cigars not needing aging I was a bit confused even with the info they put out. Has anyone else read about this and what is your opinion since I believe the BOTL on here hold a higher rank and I tend to value your opinion more than a magazine article?

Maduro cigars will most certainly improve with age. The maduro wrapper might not change as much (according to the article) however the filler and binder have not been "cooked" (wrong term, by the way) so they will benefit from aging. If this weren't the case the articles argument about larger ring cigars aging better wouldn't hold water.
So as Tuba stated simple is often best, I will say it once more as have others.........
ANY cigar will benefit from aging.

I have found that Corojo wrappers tend to benefit very well from age compared to other NC wrappers. I have some of the La Aurora Preferidos tubos from 2004, and the Corojo ones taste far better than any of the others by a long shot.
