Does anyone use the Bank of America ebanking account, or have an account with BOA? If so what are your feelings of the ebanking account or BOA in general? I am trying to find a national bank that has free checking and I have found this account, but I am kind of iffy about BOA. If anyone can give me some insight it would be much appreciated.

Bank of America is a giant pain in the ass. If I wasn't so damned lazy, I'd leave them.

Why do you want a national bank? They are all about the fees and it's only a matter of time before BOA has more fees. Have you looked into a credit union? I've used a credit union for 8 years, have only had to go into a physical branch about 6 times and do all my banking online. I can use an ATM whenever I want.

Personally, the only reason I say with BoA is because they are national. I spent my time...everywhere, so I need it. I've bought my trucks, RV, etc all over the country and a national bank really did make or break that. My girlfriends local bank has been an issue for us, and I'm seriously wanting to know if there is a national bank that doesn't suckabagadicks.

I've been a BOA customer for 10+ years now, and have been inside a bank branch less than 5 times I'd guess during that time. Non BOA ATM fees are about my only complaint, but BOA is everywhere, so it's not a huge issue. I don't do any financing with them, but they have my main checking account ... And it's a pain in the ass to switch all that info as there is a decent amount of direct deposit/auto withdrawal payments hooked into it. Ive got no reason to leave, as functionality-wise , I've got zero complaints. I'm also for supporting local...but sometimes status quo is easier.

If they start jerking me around with more fees beyond the ATM stuff .... Credit Union here I come.

My advice.....go with a local credit union, and if you need cash, go buy a pack of gum at wally world and get cash back. Need more than 300 bucks a day? Then carry a grand in your wallet. That's what I do. I have been with the same local credit union for 16 years and have yet to pay an ATM fee. They reimburse up to 4 ATM fees in a month, provide a visa at a better rate than any bank, beat banks' loan rates by a damn sight, and preapprove loans with a phone call. National banks can kiss my ass. I called my credit union one morning for an auto loan, and was approved up to what I wanted to spend that afternoon, halfway across the country. Try that with BOA. It's your money. If you need cash, carry it.

Recently closed my accounts with BoA because of the new fees. They immediately sent me a check for my remaining 32 cents and disabled my online logins. Cool.

Two weeks later, my work e-sent a travel per diem check for $90 to my old BoA account. BoA not only didn't reject the $, they 'reactivated' my account and then deducted $12 in fees!!!!!
Took three emails and two phone calls before I got to someone 'authorized' to reverse the fees, REALLY close the account, and mail me another check. Maddening.

Thanks guys it sounds like my gut feelings were correct to stay away from BOA.
They are high in fees but, I have had them for 12+ years. If you are looking into the e banking it is pretty easy. I use the web and the BoA app for my droid. I have had no issues what so ever. FWIW

Yeah but they're all over and convenient. Have an account with ING also, only thing is some things take 3-4 days to go through. Upside is everything is online so no fees. G1
BOA wanted to charge $5.00 a month for savings because I would not sign up for automatic deposits into savings. I keep only what I need monthy for bills in BOA. Everything else goes to ING. Imagine that, $0.09 cents a month in interest and then a $5.00 charge for the pleasure of having a savings account. What a wonderful Idea, a savings account that depletes your savings every month. Thats the brain turst at BOA hard at work.
ING is happy to take my money and NOT charge any bullshit fees.

We use Wells Fargo (Wachovia before that) for almost 10 years and have had no issues. That being said I also have an account with a local CU that I use for cars and savings.

I've used BofA for years and never had a problem. I always get great customer service from them and they have always taken care of any problems I've had. Checking account gets wiped out by fraud? They reversed the charges immediately and went after the scumbag.

I've got a mortgage and two credit cards with them, never had a problem with either.

Have been with boa for 10 years. Just switched to statefarm bank. Got sick of fees that they would take off after a 10 minute phone call. Sf bank is free and reimburses all (even Vegas casino) ATM fees. I can deposit checks with my phone and life is better now.

I use a credit union and a local bank that has only 2 branches. The bank refunds all my overdraft charges and ATM charges. They are really a ton easier to work with than any National bank I have ever had. It is great when you walk into the local establishments and they actually know who you are. You are not just $$$ signs to them.

If you feel comfortable with a National bank, then so be it. I say "F" them. Especially after the whole TARP and Fed Reserve issues.
