To cabinet or tall humidor owners... do you put your cuban cigars on the lower shelves and NC on the higher shelves since the consensus is that Rh rises? I'm finally stocking my cabinet and couldn't remember for sure which way to go. Maybe it won't matter much, but I was thinking CC's low as the Rh might be slightly lower than the top.

Thanks1

In theory humidity rises, but I have always seen higher humidities toward the bottom of my humi's/cabinets. So I would throw the CC on top. BTW very nice pick up on the humidor.

So much for a consensus!?! I did a google search of this even before posting and I can't believe all the different opinions on if humidity rises or not! Oh well, I guess I will find out...

I don't have a cabinet but when you are adding humidity it always settles towards the bottom. In large walk-ins, without circulation, the cigars on the bottom are often wet. I finally figured this out and put the fans facing up on the bottom and evened out a bit.

If you have fans circulating the air, it should be easy to level out. My fans go off every 30 minutes for 5 minutes. Hardly ever see a difference of more than +/- 1% over 5' of height.

Put the Rh at 63. That way even high it's maybe 65%. Also I would place the CCs at the top. Away from the humidity canisters and wicks.

humidity in my cab is pretty even throughout, sometimes the top is +1 or +2 rh higher. Running a cigar oasis on second shelf from bottom and beads throughout. So much for consenses is right!! I would see how yours acts using a digital hygro and go from there. Good luck!

What did you buy? (I have been off the board for a bit...)

I store my CC's on the top shelves, NC's on the bottom shelves. I store my older CC's ('98 and earlier) at the very top shelf.

My Avallo (w/circulation fans) keeps things pretty uniform, but I do get slightly higher RH at the bottom.

Mine seems to be pretty even, top to bottom, right now. When my cabinet has been more fully loaded, it seems to hamper circulation, and my humidity gets a little higher toward the bottom. I have a Hydra XL on the bottom with wire shelves and a fan that runs 10min every 2hr.

My cabinet tends to be drier on top. I use fans and beads to even it out. I would put CCs on top and monitor with a digital hygrometer.

Awesome... thanks for all the responses guys, appreciate it! I switched my NC's to the bottom shelf and put the cigars I want the lowest Rh on top. I ordered a new weather station on Amazon that has a couple wireless sensors so I can monitor multiple levels without having to open the doors. :)
