  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Im thinking about doing this as well, Ive quitting cigs on and off for the past few months but everytime I quit, I start smoke cigars like a mad man and then go back to the cigs.....I want to quit tobacco altogether for a month or so and completely get over the addiction.
Sorry to tell you, but it doesn't go away in a month, sometimes it doesn't go away in 18 years (personal experience)!

Question for you guys: Have any of you guys ever suffered from cigar burnout?

Lately I have been feeling like I need a break from cigar smoking. It seems like I am wasting more cigars than I am enjoying. It's like the cigars don't taste as good as they use too, and they are less satisfying.

I'm thinking of giving up cigars for a couple months and going over to smoking primarly pipes. Or maybe even just take a break from tobacco all together for a while.

I quite smoking cigerettes about 2 weeks ago, and maybe that is changing my taste in cigars? Or maybe by tastebuds just need a friggin break for a while.

Anyone else have this happen to them?

And don't worry I am not going anywhere, I will still be here on BOTL for conversation, trades, buys and smart assed responses to threads.
Once I had laid off the cigs for a couple of months, I noticed that I really started enjoying cigars much more. I don't smoke cigars like I did cigs, like having to have a cigar with a cup of coffee. I just try to enjoy cigars as a great way to relax and not as an addiction!

happens to me as well, which is why i sometimes just smoke Hoookah. not because i like it better, just because I am very much into spicy cigars and sometimes feel that I fried my palate, so having something that smooth and different just works and I still get the nicotine.
never tried pipe, maybe I will one day.

taking a break is not easy for me, but at least no cigarettes anymore

Cool, thanks for the help Bros! I think some of my problem is when I do go for a cigar it is more like 3-4-5 of them in a night. So I was at the shop Fri, Sat, Mon, wed. thats a lot of cigars. I think it is time to let my taste bud recover. If I do smoke I think I am going to go raid my Fathers Tobacco stash. Try giving pipe smoking a run for a few months.

I"m glad the "wade, prepare to be blown away" thread got bumped, now I know what all the sheep talk is about!

I haven't had a burnout yet, I never have enough opportunities to burn as many as I'd like too. At least they are aging in the mean time....

i think a lot of times your body tells you what it wants, or doesn't want. if you're smoking just to smoke and don't really enjoy it, you're wasting your time and money. you'll know when you're ready!

Yup I quit for about 6 months because I wasn't really enjoying it. I am back now, smoking at least 1 cigar a day, and I love it. Give yourself some time off.

I find variety helps. Limiting to one or two a day. I have a bad habit of chasing. You light one and blah so you try another, then another and waste a whole bunch of cigars because it isnt the cigar. If you can go six monhs, good for you. I have skipped a day or two but usually can find something kickass to get me going again.

Well it was really nice when I was working cause I never had time to smoke. I was down to a cigars like every two weeks. Now that I'm home all the time I have all this time to chat online, and smoke cigars. I need a new hobby.

Sometimes there is a day, possibly two in a row, where I just don't feel it... as in smoking a cigar just doesn't seem appealing. It always passes quickly though.
