Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.
2 of them for 25 cents each! And with zero knowledge I couldn't pass it up. I'd love to score one of the old Indians or some old smoking memorabilia. Stuff like that is always on my radar. I actually have 2 old metal (or tin) Phillies cigar boxes from way back in the day, 1 I purchased in New Jersey for $10 and it currently my storage box for matches. The other one looks like a rectangle and kind of hard to explain but I scored that one at an antique shop for $5. I almost pulled the trigger on an old cigar press but I have no room to put it anywhere and they wanted a lot of money for it.Thoes are awsome! Scotch was always my fav drink
Not really (and this is just my opinion); I do think things like lawn jockeys and blackface are racist. The thing is, I've seen smoke shops on Indian reservations that actually sell wooden Indians! So I think it's more of a nod to the connection between tobacco and American Indian culture (a history that is well-established). Plus, I just think they're really cool. Again, this is just my $.02.I always thought they were kind of racist propaganda...
haI always thought they were kind of racist propaganda...
That's another issue. Their either too expensive or imported and ridiculously cheap. It's on my list and hopefully one day I'll find one. Even if it's only a small tabletop one.I've always wanted one, but just could never find one I could afford...
Ah the antique tray stand. I know what you're talking about. Don't have that. But I have something ( sort of... ) 1/2 antique.I'm on such a hunt to find an antique cigar ash tray stand. I've seen them and their definitely out there!!! ANd of course, I'd love to get an indian too. I'm prepping now so when the house hunting time comes, I'll have plenty of stuff to stash in the man cave. LOL.
Um....no.I always thought they were kind of racist propaganda...
Yes, I've seen one or two but I wasn't paying the ridiculous price for it. My girlfriend's parents have one that I'd love to restore, but they don't want to give it up.Ah the antique tray stand. I know what you're talking about. Don't have that. But I have something ( sort of... ) 1/2 antique.

Since natives of the Americas actually introduced the Europeans to tobacco, I always thought it was a cool nod to the history of tobacco use.Um....no.
Tobacco had already long been used in the Americas by the time European settlers arrived and introduced the practice to Europe, where it became popular. At high doses, tobacco can become hallucinogenic;[1] accordingly, Native Americans did not always use the drug recreationally. Instead, it was often consumed as an entheogen; among some tribes, this was done only by experiencedshamans or medicine men.[citation needed] Eastern North American tribes would carry large amounts of tobacco in pouches as a readily accepted trade item and would often smoke it in pipes, either in defined ceremonies that were considered sacred, or to seal a bargain,[2] and they would smoke it at such occasions in all stages of life, even in childhood.[3] It was believed that tobacco was a gift from the Creator and that the exhaled tobacco smoke was capable of carrying one's thoughts and prayers to heaven.[4]
