Does anyone here listen to Americana Music?

Here are is a link to the Americana Music Chart

Americana Music charts include many types of music, Texas Music, Red Dirt Music, Alt Country, Folk, Bluegrass and Hillbilly. Some Classic Rock and Classic Country artists are now considered Americana. Pop Country is usually loathed by Americana listens (including me).

My favorite Artists include: Robert Earl Keen, Charlie Robison, Chris Knight, Steve Earle, Lyle Lovett, Whiskeytown and Band of Heathens

Some other Americana artists I listen too include: Bastard Sons Of Johnny Cash, Billy Joe Shaver, Bleu Edmondson, Bruce Robison, Buddy Miller, Chip Taylor and Carrie Rodriguez, Cory Morrow, Corb Lund, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Doug Moreland, Drive By Truckers, Eleven Hundred Springs, Flatlanders, Fred Eaglesmith, Frog Holler, Hackensaw Boys, Hayes Carll, old Jack Ingram, James McMurtry, Jason Boland And The Stragglers, Jim Lauderdale, Kelly Willis, Lucinda Williams, Micky and the Motorcars, Norah Jones, Old Crow Medicine Show, old Pat Green, Ralph Stanley, Randy Rogers Band, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Reckless Kelly, Ryan Adams, Ryan Bingham, Todd Snider, Townes Van Zandt, Shooter Jennings, Stoney LaRue, Todd Snider, Uncle Tupelo, Walt Wilkins, The Weary Boys, Wade Bowen, Wilco, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan.

Anyone have any Americana artist I missed and you would recommend?

The Drive-by Truckers should really be one of the biggest bands in the world. Man are they under rated. They play rock n roll, hard rock, bluegrass, country...a little bit of everything and Patterson writes some amazing lyrics.

I am a big Ragweed fan too!!!

I go back to Texas for Charlie Robison's B-Day show at Green Hall every year. It is always one of my favorite shows.

Have you listen to much Chris Knight? That is good stuff. I think you might like him a lot.

Check out the band Chamberlain. They used to be an Emo Hardcore band called Split Lip but changed their name after they changed their style. They're not together anymore but I think the lead singer just came out with a solo album.

Yep, he did. Its on iTunes. David Moore: My Lover, My Stranger.

I listen to it all the time. We're pretty fortunate here in Texas that it's readily accessible.

My iPod is full of Americana (also known around here as "Red Dirt" music):
Hank 3, Aaron Watson, Alison Krauss, Amber Digby, Billy Joe Shaver, Bleu Edmondson, BR549, Brandon Rhyder, Brian Burns, Casey Donahew, Bruce Robison, Charlie Robison, Chris Knight, Commander Cody, Corb Lund, Cory Morrow, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Dale Watson, Darryl Worley, Dash Rip Rock, David Allan Coe, Delbert McClinton, The Derailers, The Mavericks, Deryl Dodd, Dierks Bentley, Drive-By Truckers, Eleven Hundred Springs, Elizabeth Cook, Eli Young Band, Fred Eaglesmith, Gary Allan, Gas Money, The Gourds, The Great Divide, Guy Clark, Hayes Carll, High Noon, Jack Ingram, James McMurtry, Jamey Johnson, Jarrod Birmingham, Jason Aldean, Jason Boland & The Stragglers, Jason Eady, Jay Johnson, The Jayhawks, Jerry Jeff Walker, Joe Ely, John Hiatt, Josh Grider, Kelly Willis, Kevin Fowler, Los Lonely Boys, Lyle Lovett, Mark Lemhouse, Marty Robbins, Marty Stuart, Max Stalling, Micky & The Motorcars, Mike McClure Band, North Mississippi All Stars, Old 97’s, Pat Green, Pinmonkey, Pure Prairie League, Radney Foster, Randy Rogers Band, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Reckless Kelly, Reverend Horton Heat, Robbie Fulks, Robert Earl Keen Jr., Roger Creager, Shooter Jennings, Slaid Cleaves, Son Volt, Split Lip Rayfield, Steve Earle, Stoney LaRue, Sunny Sweeney, Trent Willmon, Vern Gosdin, Wade Bowen & West 84, Walt Wilkins, Wayne “The Train” Hancock, Waylon Jennings, Willie

That’s just what’s on my current playlist, I’m sure I cruised past some.

The local stations will throw in some blues, bluegrass, rockabilly and classic country, so it's always fun to listen to.

My favorite station is out of Stephenville :

Locally we've got :
The Range (out of Plano) - http://www.khyi.com/

The Ranch (out of Fort Worth) - http://www.959theranch.com/

I don't know why I don't have any Ryan Bingham.

Band of Heathens doesn't get much airtime, so I've never really latched onto their music. They any good?

Bingham's new album was produced by Marc Ford of The Black Crowes. It is awesome. He lives down the road from me in Malibu, CA. He is a buddy of mine. Band of Heathens played his wedding this summer.

Band of Heathens new album was #1 of the Americana Charts for a long time. It is down at #4 this week. Man, it is a great album. It is bluesy, rootsy and soulful. I highly recommend it.

Chris Knight is amazing. Two songs really stand out "William" and "Down the River".

Favorite DBT song for me has to be "The Boys From Alabama".

Favorite DBT song for me has to be "The Boys From Alabama".
I've been fortunate enough to see Chris Knight twice, both in small venues. The first was at a record shop, that used to have a performer come in on Fridays (Bills Records and Tapes : http://www.billsrecords.com/index.html) and the other time at Love & War in Texas with Austin Cunningham (Love & War : http://www.loveandwarintexas.com/)

Chris is the undisputed "King of the Killin' Tune" :D

As for DBT, I dig Gravity's Gone and My Sweet Annette

I've seen Chris Knight four times. I am a bigger fan of his song writing than his live shows.

My favorite live shows are Robert Earl Keen, Lyle Lovett, Charlie Robison and Cross Canadian Ragweed. I have seen them all 10+ times. I never missed REK when he comes to town and I fly back to Texas every Labor Day to go to Charlie Robison's B-Day Party at Gruene Hall in Gruene, TX. Gruene Hall is my favorite place in the world.
