And for stupid cheap... Benchmark $23 a handle. Embarrassingly cheap, surprisingly good.

I second the four Rose's. I actually got a bottle of the small batch for 30 here the other day

The first awesome pairing I found was with 4 Rose's Small Batch and a homeroll of Mata fina, piloto cubano seco, and Dominican ligero.
That 4 Rose's made all the difference.

Yes. Good call! Monkey Shoulder is great stuff if you're looking for everyday Scotch. Doesn't have a lot of peat/seaweed flavor that drives some people away.

And the bottle is cool. My 11 year old has a couple of empties....

Gentleman Jack is a smooth whiskey for sippin at around 30, but I would rather not drink than have Old #7.

Well for $30 buck in these parts I would go for Buffalo Trace, Bulleit Rye, Snake River Stampede, Old Overholt, Dickel Rye...And for Irish Quiet man, Black Bush, paddys, Teelings.
And raising it to sub $40 opens up a ton of great options.
