I have been playing bass guitar for 12 years now. Started playing in a garage band during my high school years. We actually recorded an album in a studio. We traveled to different cities, hooked up with other local bands. It was the most fun I have had. A year after I moved to AZ, I found a good deal on an Ibanez RG7321, and have been messing around with that. My weapon of choice is my bass, for sure. Definitely miss jamming.

Been playing for about ten years now. I'm still pretty mediocre, but I like to dabble. I generally play my takamine jumbo most often, but I do have an american tele and a clapton strat that I run thru a few effects and into a Peavey Delta Blues 115. I'll post a photo once my post count allows me to do so ;)

Been playing since '91. Own a few axes... Honeyburst Epiphone Standard Les Paul with upgraded pots, caps, and Little '59 Humbuckers... 3 color Sunburst Fender Mexican strat with Texas Special pickups, and a Taylor 214. Haven't played much in the past year and a half as work has been grueling. Looking forward to picking it up again and jamming though. Blues, Rock, and metal!! For all you just trying to learn, I recommend getting a copy of Rocksmith 2014. It's a great way to learn.

Been playing for 20 years I guess- since I was about 10.

Play guitar mostly, but fill in for some bands on bass, mandolin, and occasionally dobro.

Anyone recommend some instructional sites? I just joined guitarmasterclass.net and am pretty impressed with it so far. Plenty to keep me busy and challenged.
im a beginner so take this with a grain of salt but after a few months of trying to use youtube, I gave in and subscribed to http://www.guitartricks.com. Did month to month for about 3 months and then they had a deal for a year for $89 bucks, jumped on it and have not regretted one second of it.

Jamplay also has really good reviews and if you like some of the youtube teachers like Justin guitar or Marty from Guitar jams go with whatever teacher you are mostt comfortable with I don't think you can really go wrong with any of them. Plus most of them have a money back guarantee so you don't really have anything to lose by trying for the trial period and cancelling for a refund if you don't like it.

Been playing 27 years now, started at 14. Played in bands in college and a bit later. Can't do the out-until-2AM-on-a-weeknight thing anymore, so I'm probably out of playing live for the foreseeable future. Doesn't stop me from buying gear, though. My username is my favorite amp, although I only have a reissue version. Nothing in the world sounds like a Telecaster through a cranked Bassman!

And since everyone likes gear porn...

I happened into a "lucky" situation and was able to get two dream guitars in one day earlier this year. Guitar on the left is a Fender '52 Hot Rod Telecaster (with a Duncan minibucker in the neck). Guitar on the right is a PRS Studo with Narrowfield neck and middle pickups. It's not a 10 top, but does have a one-piece figured mahogany back. At least for me, the PRS is kind of the ultimate superstrat. Both of them are now discontinued. The Tele was lightly used, the PRS was brand new, both from Dave's in LaCrosse, WI. Never pulled the trigger on two guitars in one day before, and probably won't get the opportunity again.

Both of those are beautiful. Always wanted a PRS. And there is nothing more classic than a butterscotch blonde tele.

I've been playing for about 5 years, but lately I've been slacking.
I need to get back on it because it's one of the things that makes me feel good about life!

I just turned 50 this year and have always wanted to play the bass guitar,so a couple of weeks ago I went out and bought one. Have no idea what I am doing, but I like "playing" it. No interest in being in a band or anything like that just do it for my own enjoyment

I've been playing for a few months now. I use my acoustic for more traditional learning methods and I also play Rocksmith. That game is a lot of fun and also helps with learning the physical aspects of playing. Progress is slow but there.

I have been playing 20 years now. Started when I was nine. I usually play classical, classic rock, blues, and prog. I also play bass.

Instruments:
Epiphone C-26 Spanish Classic acoustic (nylon strings, sweet sound, and first guitar)
Squier II Korean Strat (first electric, still sounds amazing)
Yamaha Pacifica (given to me, pretty punchy sounding guitar)
Epiphone Casino (natural finish, you can thank John Lennon)
Epiphone Les Paul Custom PRO (coil-split and phase switch... it is amazing)
Ibanez acoustic bass
Schecter Stiletto Studio 8-string (Greg Lake... if only I could afford an Alembic... someday)

I was gifted the same guitar and I'd have to agree. Not quite the same as a Fender obviously but still a guitar you can get some good sound out of for a single coil. The intonation on mine won't hold though which is pretty annoying.

I've been playing on and off for about 8 years. I'm completely self taught, and don't know any theory, so I usually stick to just playing covers of songs that I like. I don't imagine I'll ever be in a band writing music, so I'm fine with that.

I've amassed a decent amount of gear over that time, although I can't exactly use much of it anymore as I just moved into an apartment and will probably get in trouble for cranking the volume. I'll post some pics when I'm home from work.;)

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, although, I could suggest songsterr.com for free 'Guitar Pro' style tabs. Or just get Guitar Pro (purchase or obtain through other means...) and there's a ton on Ultimate-Guitar.com

If you have a decent computer or a newer game console, there's also Rocksmith.

I took 10 years of classical piano growing up and learning scales were highly stressed. When I decided to teach myself guitar after learning all my chords I got a book of scales and it was probably the best thing I could have done for myself.
You'd be hard pressed to find a guitar player worth his salt that doesn't practice their scales every day. Hell anyone that can do sweeps can only pull it off because of practicing their scales. You don't have to learn what each note is, though it helps, just memorize the patterns each scale makes. There's only a small number of patterns to remember as the patterns repeat themselves in different positions.
For example, the minor and major pentatonic scales are basically the same 5 patterns the major scale is just 3 frets lower in each position.

Mine intonates fines, the action is just uncomfortable to me. The humbucker has a more modern feel, but can be pretty harsh. While it doesn't sound exactly like a Fender, it can so some pretty close. It is like a mix between a Fender with vintage coils (for the single coils) and an Ibanez with more modern tones. All in all, not a bad axe. I will say it plays very well with effects, more than my Casino. Though, P-90s and effects never had the best relationship. Light effects sure, but not heavy.

This thread needs more pictures. (Hopefully these upload properly)
My first guitar - Epiphone SG. The one of the strings broke like 2 years ago and I could never be bothered to restring it. Just bought a fresh pack this week.

Schecter Damien-7 String

Yamaha Acoustic (FG720 I think)

Agile AL-3100 (pretty good Les Paul clone), DBZ Venom, and Peavy JSX head and cab.

Orange Dark Terror and Hovercraft Falcon.
http://www.hovercraftamps.com/

Hardwire Supernatural Reverb, and TC Alter Ego Delay.

Old Boss HM-2. This thing is only good for one sound - the Swedish Death Metal 'chainsaw' guitar tone.

The rest of my pedals - TC Corona Chorus, Dunlop Crybaby, and tuner.
