Ham Radio?.....

A few years back I thought about getting into this but when I looked at all that I needed to go through to get a license, and then the amount of money I would have to spend to get some decent equipment I decided against it. As has been mentioned, everyone I know uses a cell phone so the only attraction might be for the fun of it and talking to new people. With services like Skype popping up on the internet I can now talk with people worldwide for free so there goes part of that aspect.

Basically for me it came down to the cost to get started, not wanting to learn morse code, and I didn't think I would use it enough.

If theres a disaster or something cell phones or IP phones won't work.

HEY, I was told about SKYPE a long time ago, but just got it running here on the office machine. Anyone use this? Looks like IM to me, but every search I do give me nada!... VoIP isn't new to me, but figure it kinda fits with Radio?.. Got One guy that works here getting his ticket soon, COOL so were going to add to the Airwavews clutter...

I use Skype but only for calls into the US (Free) and PC to PC calls.
