  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Here are mine:

Full Bent w/ red bowl, Original w/ green, and I was lucky enough to grab a prototype Churchwarden early on in the process. Love the cratered texture on that black bowl! I almost had him make me a nose-warmer, too, but I held off figuring I could always pick up another original and chop it down myself if I was so inclined...
Right now, you can get stems with black, silver, and gold bases. Smooth bowls are available in red, green and brown, and black rusticated bowls like the one above and also black in what has a "concrete" look and feel to it.
If you email Mike at TPC, he will mix and match the bowls with the stem/base for you if he doesn't have your desired combo posted.
Hekthor is also always posting teasers of test pieces on his IG, so check him out @hwiebepipes! (I know I'm going to need another one if/when he releases the Shorty Bent or the blue base. I'm probably going to need one of the naked briar bowls, too!)
Still waiting on other bowl designs, and the only things I think could use improvement would be a wider more substantial bit for easier clenching, and to make the stems removable from the bases. Right now they're fused together, but I like the option on my DE/Tsuge to break it down that one extra step. Besides, it would allow for even greater mix and match customization!

Any preference between full bend or straight? Love them!!

@BrewinHooligan I like the feel of the full bent better, as I'm a clencher while driving. (the weight being in closer to your mouth just feels less clumsy) And the small bit feels more secure that way. Clenching the standard is a little awkward, like you're balancing that weight out at the end, but again I think that could be remedied with a more substantial bit. Perhaps someone who's played a bit with pipe stem making might want to make a beta test replacement for me?
