a friend told me about Hot Salt...

never heard of it before...but seems interesting..can't find a recipe...

this is what he said,

"take a whole canister of seasalt, simmer it until dissolved in a pot of warm water... but add in chopped peppers (Habs, Bhuts, Chilis, Etc.. whatever the flavor you want) and simmer the salt water with the pepper infusion. Let it recrystallize like rock candy and evaporate off. then regrind the salt to a usable grain.."

I've asked for a more specific recipe...anyone tried this or have a recipe?

I'm wondering how spicy the salt would be...

Awesome! Once this years crop comes in, I'm a few weeks behind due to heavy spring rains, I'll definitely be experimenting!!

The originator responded to my question...he said he uses an olive press on the peppers, and boils the oils with water, adds the salt, then dissolves and let's it re-crystalize. I've asked for ratios, and whatever other info he can give me. He said he'll try to make a pepper slurry next time to see if the results change.

Not salt, but if you are looking for some heat check Dave's Dragon Dust. Currently sold out, I emailed Dave & they will have some at the end of Aug or early Sept.

REALLY HOT but delicious
