Yeah, funny. Can we set up a new rule for the Comedy room? You know, that what is posted has to actually have some humor to it?

I try to stay pretty much non-political here in BoTL, but can't resist posting this as a reply... <Borrowed from a post on ASC; don't know it's origin>

A young teenage girl was about to finish her first year of
college. She considered herself to be a very liberal
Democrat but her father was a rather staunch Republican.

One day she was challenging her father on his beliefs and
his opposition to taxes and welfare programs. He stopped her
and asked her how she was doing in school.

She answered that she had a 4.0 GPA but it was really tough.
She had to study all the time, and she never had time to go
out and party. She didn't have time for a boyfriend and
didn't really have many college friends because of spending
all her time studying.

He asked, "How is your friend Mary?" She replied that Mary
was barely getting by. She had a 2.0 GPA and never studied.
She was very popular on campus and went to parties all the
time. She often didn't show up for classes because she was
hung over.

Dad then asked his daughter why she didn't go to the Dean's
office and have 1.0 taken off her 4.0 and give it to her
friend with the 2.0. That way they would both have a 3.0
GPA.

The daughter angrily fired back, "That wouldn't be fair! I
worked really hard for mine and Mary has done nothing."

The father slowly smiled and said, "Welcome to the
Republican Party."

Lighten up fellas, no worse than anything else that has been posted about politics in here. Just funny how when something about republicans gets posted everyone gets their panties twisted.

I thought it was pretty funny.

I've seen that, and actually my Wife's staunch Republican father sent it to her a while back. Funny how she's been leaning more Right ever since.

Larry, I have to disagree. The last two things I've seen posted that were "Republican comedy", so to speak, have been this and a response to something that was posted about Democrats. Both were trash. They weren't comedy, they were nothing but over the top stereotyping trash.
Let's look at this one:
From the opening sequence, which is as far as I got the first time:
"Bored with Honesty and Common Sense?" Yeah, like that's a Republican trait.
"Feel like America has lost its mind?" Again.
"Why suffer the the dissapointment of voting your confidence? Join the party you can trust to cheat, manipulate, redistrict, sue, lie and force its way to triumph everytime!" This is funny? How? Maybe my funny bone's broken.
"Defend Freedom by losing your own!" Hmmm...bit of Satire there. Not truly funny, but I'll give them credit.
"Help Destroy the World!" Yeah, hilarious.
"Mix Ignorance and Arrogance!" Ha. Ha. *cough-hack* (sorry, couldn't make it throught the whole laugh)
"Vote against your self interests!" Sure.
"Get all Uppity!" OK, that's got some humor to it. Not much, but some.

OK, so that's pretty much as far as I made it the first time I looked at it. The sterotype "humor" is so strong it's kind of disgusting. Cowboy, Religious, Gun-nut.
The Cowboy thing is aimed at George Bush...ok, we get it, you don't like the guy.
Religous. Yeah, because there's something horribly wrong with being religious.
Gun-nut. I'll just give ya this one because I am one.

Then I head over to the next page. Wow. Again, this is humorous?
"Jesus loves you and he's going to kill you!" and "I'll kick every Liberal's Faggoty ass!"
This is humor? Really?

Finally I'm on the third page and there's a bit of a twinge at the mouth. At least the sterotypes go both ways here.

Wow. Now I hit the fourth page (Compassionate Conservative) and that's far enough.

Seriously, you found this crap funny?

Geez, you think that was bad? Some days, I head to the local pub early in the day, and it is full of the old, liberal, LOUD, democrats.

I am the token republican. Even though we argue about politics, and it gets pretty involved sometimes, we are all still friends at the end of the day. Of course, it helps that we are drinking while all this is going on.

If you can't take a ribbing, you should really stop worrying about politics. I just sent that link to several friends of mine, and they are all in the more left wing category.

My only comment is how fucking ignorant liberals are when they use the "cowboy" comment in a derogotory manner.
True cowboys are by nature and creed, honest, hard working, dedicated, soft spoken, and many other admirable traits.
I really wish that use of the word would go away!!!!

No surprise - people can be a little touchy in regard to political comedy. If I summarily dismissed all humor at the expense of myself / my lifestyle / my party / etc. as "not funny" I wouldn't spend much time laughing. It's understandible that deprecation of beliefs that are held so closely can be offensive, but if you can't laugh at yourself, you shouldn't be allowed to laugh at anyone else.
