I have a check engine light that comes on every so often. Heater core and I'm in the middle of summer with the engine temp being perfect.....go figure.

Mine will often do the same, but had been constantly on since my oil pressure gauge failed. So I couldn't pass the emissions (check engine light is an automatic fail), renew my registration, and my remote start wouldn't work. All those are thankfully in the rear view now.

Find you a state where they can't spell 'inspection' (like MS)

For as much of a "liberal haven / California wannabe" as Minnesota can be, we surprisingly do not have required emissions tests.

Hopefully that doesn't change anytime soon.

Rather surprising since I'm sure they test the cows for emissions.

we have solid wood core doors throughout the house. however - they were all cut to accommodate the old THICK carpet. So once we pulled it all and put the new flooring down, every interior door has a huge gap. The wife couldn't stand that - or the style (six panel doors). So I've started to replace them with cheap hollow core doors and got the first few done yesterday. I'm doing full pre-hung stuff. Got the two closets in my son's room done. Have the two doors that leave his room to do.

We also picked up one of the exterior doors that has to be done (they all do - this is the second of five). It'll be delivered in a few weeks. Its probably the worst door in the house for seal purposes. You can see daylight above and below and they've cleared had water intrusion in the past. So we'll get that sorted out.

once i get the two doors hung in my son's room - we'll put in all of the trim and baseboard and it'll be our first fully completed room

I would have replaced it with 70's shag just keep those solid doors. Hollow core doors are absolute trash.....imho Seriously I would have added extra padding to mitigate that gap. Back in my younger days with the Mrs there was nothing better than getting a rug burn in the morning while watching Austin Powers the Shag who Loved me.

I just go with the flow my friend There is very little carpet left in the house (and its just area rugs put down) There was no saving those gaps

and yeah re: the hollow core doors. we'd have preferred solid. but she wants to make quick progress and didn't like any of the solid core stuff she could find locally.

I hate it when the animals drink all the beer up and get drunk. Kick them out of the house it will teach them a lesson.

picked up hearing aids yesterday. Had my hearing tested a few weeks back and at 45 I have some hearing loss (higher end of the spectrum). I went in for constant ringing (ive had that for YEARS but it's seemed to have ramped up).

Found the hearing loss and they suggested hearing aids. So I picked up some demos yesterday. The main goal is to really just separate the actual noise from the ringing so I dont miss as much as I currently do.

I'm not sure yet how well they're going to work for me BUT I certainly have been talking really loudly for a LONG time. It feels like I'm whispering now (even though the wife confirms that I'm generally talking at a more normal volume)

Spent the last few days in FL.

Drove to JAX on friday (wife's BFF lives there). Dropped dogs off at local kennel in JAX saturday. Sunday drove to Orlando with wife, kid and wifes BFF. Did touristy stuff. Then off to Tampa for the night. Monday went to Busch Gardens in Tampa and then drove back to JAX that night.

yesterday drove back home to MS.

now i have today and tomorrow to work on the step son's room because on Saturday I'm going to be driving up to NY (myself) to help stepson pack up his stuff (and some of the stuff we left behind) and move him down here. I'll be up there for a week or two before I drive back down with him (the driving back down with him is unexpected, we were going to move most of his stuff and then I'd fly back up in November sometime and drive with him in his car back down here).

we didn't plan on stepson being down until november so we hadn't started on his room yet (still working on my kid's as we have time). So my wife wants to at least get a coat of paint on it before he gets here. Guess I'm pulling trim and painting the ceiling in my abundant free time (which has to include lawn work, and more work on the kid's room too)

We do that drive yearly (her BFF is in JAX and mine is in St Pete - I also went to college in Tampa). We do a FL trip every year and start at one end or the other. This is the first year we drove to FL though since its much closer to MS than NY!! From where we were it was only 3 hrs - and after all of the previous driving, it really wasn't a big deal

ended up leaving Sunday for NY. did the ~1200 miles sun / mon - got to NY around 9pm last night.

now i'm working my day job during the day and our evenings will be filled with packing and getting him ready.

then we'll caravan back to MS in our cars with the remaining doggo (we had a frenchie and an english/american bulldog mix - he asked if the bulldog could stay with him. so now we'll have all of the dogs and the family in one place!

i am NOT looking forward to the 1200 miles back to MS though. too much driving in a 4-6 week window

and im back in MS.

spent the last week and a half helping the stepson pack up. we left NY on Friday and did the drive down in three pieces (his request). so we did about 6hrs a day every day. Got back here around 6pm yesterday.

the wife is happy both her boys are with her now and we also brought down the doggo that stayed behind with the stepson so we truly have the full family here.
