I would not send them a copy of your dl. to easy to give the state your info
if heat was put on them for taxes and such

Bingo. It is actually Holts insuring the credit card companies do not cut off processing. By showing they have taken extra steps to not allow sales of tobacco to minors, they have covered this very sticky base.

I justm ordered from them and no one asked for my ID. There was a disclaimer I think that asked that I be 21 yrs old. I checked yes. Though my wife still thinks I act like a teenager?

Don't send them anything. I got the same letter and have ordered from them multiple times since.

Giving them driver license information will not give any additional personal information that is not already available to the public. If there are tax issues your invoice or credit card purchase is already there. I do not see how the DL will aid in tax issues as the delivery address is what tells the state taxation, not your DL.

I would never send a copy of my ID to a retailer of any sort...no way no how! That's just asking for trouble.

The next letter would be from your state tax agency, telling you that you need to pay them state sales tax on the items you had shipped from another state.

Amen to that. I would provide proof of person on delivery, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna send copies of my DL and PASSPORT to any retail establishment.
