BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I've heard that they can be a little inconsistent in construction, but after a year most will open up and be fantastic. Med/short filler with fantastic core tobacco flavor.
I am not sure that is a very positive review.... in a subtle way
I'm thinking about getting the CG's... I was gifted a brevas and I thought it was fantastic especially for just under $3 a stick:stretchgr

I am a fan of the JLP's in general. They are cheap and if you are drunk or something they are perfect. I like to smoke them when I play poker, as they have tons of nicotine and I don't feel like I wasted money if I smoke 2 or 3 in a night. They are also great to give out as a "cuban" without breaking the bank. The construction can be fairly iffy. Make sure to get a 5x5 box not a bundle, the bundles tend to have at least a few split or otherwise messed up cigars in them.
2 bad things about JLP's the flavor can be a bit "soapy" don't ask me why, but many have a sort of soap aftertaste, also the lingering odor is not very nice, so smoke em outside if possible.
I have mostly switched to partagas mille fleur for cheap cigars, but I always have a box of JLP around as well.

The soap taste, as I understand , is that the rollers have to wash their hands constanly and they don't always rinse like they should , they tend to get in a hurry, thus leaving a soap taste on your smokes............
Hmmm...I have heard about the soapy flavour, but I haven't experienced them in piedras personally. They're not a great smoke, they're machine made and they're kinda rough looking, but if you're looking for some cuban tobacco flavour at a great price, these are not a bad place to start. One thing I will say is that they do improve dramatically with time, they don't become a great smoke, but after a year or two they become decent and I think people are sometimes too quick to dismiss them for their fresh characteristics rather than waiting...though I will admit there are much better smokes to wait around for.
At that price point, you should also check out the PL panatelas which are handmade and Fonseca KDT Cadetes, which become great little smokes after a couple years. That being said, I like piedras, not as much as some others, but at that price point, and if you'd like to try a couple, send me a pm.
