Lancero February:
Stick #1: L40 by Drew Estates
Stick #2: 2014 TAA by CyB
Stick #3: 2012 Illusione Holy Lance
Stick #4: DPG Original Blue
Stick #5: Room 101 Master Collection One Mutante
Stick #6: Joya de Nicaragua Antano 1970

I have a handful of these left from last year just hanging out in the bottom drawer of the wineador, and really just pass by them each time Im in there. Figured what better excuse than Lancero Febuary to get around to burning one.
Glad I did, I fogot how good these are.
Stick has a good build, and flavor profile is right in my wheelhouse. Heavy amounts of espresso and spice. With a great mouth feel. Smoked entire thing without any need for a beverage to cleanse the palate.

Burn stayed excellent start to finish. Ash could get about this long before dropping off, damn fine for a Lancero if you ask me.

Another good stick, no complaints.

Day 1: Lost City
Day 2: Fausto
Day 3: La Riqueza
Day 4: Cabaiguan Guapos
Day 5: La Casita Criolla
Day 6: Tat Red
Day 7: Tat Brown, 7-20-4
Day 8: Opus X PL, La Palina Black PL
Day 9: Valeroso
Day 10: Viaje Exclusivo, Tat black PL

Dry brown seamless wrapper. Chocolate bar wrapper aroma once the cello is off. I do love a freshly shorn stick. I have my doubts that removing cello aids the aging process, so when they're on, I leave em.

A lot of wood here. Not cedar, just dry deciduous wood.

This is a pleasant, fine cigar. Something I could smoke any time at all. This is probably only my second Viaje ever (?), and I really should smoke more of them. This was bombed. We all need to band our bombed sticks as a rule.

There's some mint. Retro is pretty harsh, especially given how old it is (at least a year). A splash of sweet cream. Not the most dynamic cigar ever. But burning perfectly and very satisfying.

#2 today:

Maybe it was the nice Viaje I had first. Maybe it was a bit of a dud. But this time the Tat PL just didn't do a lot for me, especially at the start. It did get better. But I expected more from this favorite. Long finish. Fairly chewy smoke. Of course I nubbed it. Maybe I'll try to find another later in the month and give this a second shot.

Ranked top to bottom thus far:

Lost City
Opus X PL
La Riqueza
7-20-4
Tat brown
La Palina Black PL
Viaje Exclusivo
Tat Black PL
La Casita Criolla
Valeroso
Cabaiguan Guapos
Tat red
Fausto

Sorry for the sucky selfie...

This cigar started off nice. Nothing too extraordinary but nice medium body with toffee and nutty notes and faint floral undertones. Then halfway through it changed for the better. Way-mo-better. The retro was fantastic. Like a rich vanilla frosting. It picked up in strength but not overpowering at all. Nubbed it and had to check the humi to see if I had more. Very nice blend for a lancero.

Close 2nd to its sister lance the Edition Especial. Very well balanced in terms of flavor and strength. Cocoa and cedar with faint hints of dark colored fruits. The sweetness of the Maduro wrapper compliments a cup of coffee nicely.

The LADC are no longer available to the 'web seeker', but I'm sure some B&Ms out there probably have a few lying around.

Enjoy your time at the Caldwell event. Sounds like fun!!

It was suggested to me that the Oro was better than the Plata, or Platino. I don't know about that. But I did enjoy it.

Good taste, had a bit of a twang to it. A good twang mind you, just couldn't put a finger on what it was exactly. Burn was good right on thru, good smoke output, and Id give it maybe a 8 out of 10. No big swing of flavor ranges, just a good solid smoke.
