One of the reps during the Drew Estate event at Outlaw said they lost a few crops of wrapper leaf and so the #9 would be getting a little scarce. Not a big worry to me as I like both the #9 and T52.
Dan
It's a bit more in-depth than that. The farmers in Connecticut that provide the wrapper leaf for the No.9 actually only lost part of their crops. They then filed insurance claims, which is on the entire crop/field, got paid out and the good leaf that wasn't damaged got plowed under. I'm a little hazy on if the way the crop insurance works is an all-or-nothing deal or they made that choice to go 100%. Either way, it really fucked Jon over.
A Nicaraguan tobacco farm by contrast, will continue to grow and then sell whatever wasn't wiped out.
