  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Look at what I found at a little hideaway!

MSRP on the Opus Super Belicoso is $12 and that's before any state tobacco taxes. Maine has a tobacco tax of 20% of the wholesale price. You're saying that you got Opus Super Belicoso for $5.50 each? Hmmmmm

hard to belive a shop would let a entire box of Opus X go for under what I'm sure is less than cost. That or somebody got in really big trouble for losing the shop a shit load of money on that sale.

I don't think they guy who ran the shop really knew what he had.
Personally, I wouldn't feel right buying cigars so cheaply unless I knew that the person was simply trying to clear them out. I love a good deal, but not if I'm taking advantage of someone else's mistake or ignorance. (I'm not trying to pass judgement, since I don't know the details of the transaction.)

I was thinking the exact same thing, I would atleast ask if this is honestly the correct price, and allow him to double check things first. Then if it was still the correct price according to the shop then I wouldn't feel so bad because I actually did my part in making sure that the price is correct. I like a good deal too, but damn! (Not passing judgement, just my 2 cents)

I always check any humidor I find, just on the off chance of finding something like this! Have yet to make a score, though.

Congrats! This is the find of a lifetime, especially considering they are in good shape!

I find it odd that a shop owner would not know how much he paid his wholesaler and what he paid in taxes. If the shop's been around as long as you say, it didn't keep it's doors open by making those kind of mistakes. Something's not right here, just sayin'.

Probably a youngin relative that doesn't know what he's doing and looked up the wrong price. I can see xochristy sprinting to the car from the register.:stretchgr:popeyes::cjump:

Hey if this is an old Junk store it could be that he got them from someone's selling thier granddad's old stuff after he passed..or something anyway. I would have been all over that, a deal is a deal. If the shop keeper gave a price, and money exchanged hands, the deal is done. Then I would have run to my car so fast.....:cjump:

Nobody knows the reason for the cheap pricing, but you scored big time, and for that i applaud you. I've been looking for an opus at a descent price... had i found those i would have done the same thing you did. Good find. Enjoy the smokes.

I would never take advantage of someone intentionally, it was the owner of the shop and it appears that he does not want to sell cigars anymore, like I said, there are no NEWER cigars in there. Perhaps he is closing shop and is liquidating everything. Who knows for sure. I will take what he is offering and be happy for it. Times are very hard these days and people are closing shop all over the place. He has a lousy location and very mixed things that he sells, from cigars, chips, soda, junk and antiques. No lounge or place to sit in there. I gave the cigars a good home where they will be appreciated and loved :) If I find another box I will share them with all of you....I think it was the only box, but there were more tins.

I would say there is no reason for you to feel guilty here, you found a hole in the wall shop with a fantastic deal and you bought it, good for you. Enjoy the sticks!

Lots of liquidation sales going on right now. Bhudda sold off everything they had in AZ for 50 to 60% of off retail. Tats, La Riquezia all of it.
