BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I am probably going to go the bar top epoxy resin route. I would be worried glass could shatter if the tray is dropped and then you would have a worse problem then a burn mark. This was just something I threw together on a whim so more of a learn as you go type experience.
What type of finish did you put on it ?

Lacquer for now, need to pick up some of that bar top epoxy so I can fill in the bottom and protect it.

I probably have ~6 ashtrays lying around already. No need to dirty it up just yet.
Started on a new one as well. Needs several more coats of finish and a couple sandings in there but I like the colors so far.

Is the Cigar box top the only bottom or it glued to another piece of wood ? Any side pictures ? Thanks

The bottom is made from the cigar box lid only, the glue/lid should be strong enough to hold any ash/cigars dropped in it. Now if you decide to throw the ashtray against the wall it may come apart
