Hong Kong resident wrote the best cigar book on rare Cuban cigars, An Illustrated Encyclopedia of Post-Revolution Havana Cigars, in 2003. Min Ron Nee, a cigar-crazy Hong Kong doctor, co-authored the book with Andriano Martinez Rios, a former executive at the Cuban global export company Habanos. The tome includes photos and comments on just about every brand and vitola, or size, ever made in Cuba. It is the definitive work on the subject for the moment.
Dub, that's the book you saw here when you and Mary visited recently.ATCDub said:Okay Bros. please forgive my ignorance but is MRN a spin-off of FHM or Hustler? I am guessing no.
This is correct...I think the new edition with added cigars/tastings is due for 2007/2008??DWavs said:I thought someone said that the 2nd edition just had corrections in it and actually had the same number of pages as the first. If this is true, the answer to your final question would be no.
Thats like a college text book move there. I rememeber college text books would change the numbers around so you had to buy the new edition. The material was pretty much the same. What a money maker.jcgoldner said:I have the 2nd printing. I've been told that the only difference is page 492 titled "Errata in first printing".
Absolutely. He did the second printing to get copies to people which is a huge task for a 7lb book and in reality its a small market of buyers...I went off on a tangent about my old college book buying days.Kurtdesign1 said:Money maker or not, I know aton of brothers who were begging for this before he did it. Aftermarket MRNs (as the book has been dubbed) were going for over $250 in some cases. Yes, the author made money, but heh has numerous charitable offerings where he completely fronted the cost of many, many books, just so the people who bought directly from him would make a donation to a charity he supported. A very selfless thing to do IMO.
Kudos to MRN
