My first humidor is a Herf-a-dor. All plastic. This one is a cheapo made in Indonesia 50 count wooden humidor with a gauge that I probably can't trust (I am ordering a high quality digital one right now as we speak).
I am getting conflicting advice. The guy at the cigar store told me to just put in my humidifier element and moisturize it with the solution like I have been doing to the one in my Herf-a-dor. However, a friend of mine who smokes cigars and who has given me advice of dubious quality has told me to first soak the new wooden humidor in water. Totally submerge it, then wipe off the excess water, then load it with cigars and put my element in there etc.
What say you?
