  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

My new bike - hotness!

So, what are you going to do with the old bike? Can I borrow it? I should probably pick up riding in my spare time. I need to build up some endurance. I about got my ass kicked by a little mexican the other night.

You have a TCR2? That's a pretty nice bike--love the compact geometry. I looked at one about a year ago before I bought my other bike. What's the gruppo? Tiagra? 105?

LMAO! You would look like a friggin' circus monkey on my Surly. It's a 56cm, and you easily need at least a 61 or 62.

And FWIW I'm going to put the cross tires back on it for now and just use it as a cross bike. Then I think this fall I'm gonna get a Surly flip-flop hub for it and convert it to a fixie/singlespeed.

Cool looking bike. If that's the actual seatpost height when you ride is the frame a little big for you?

Enjoy it, it's way nicer looking than any of my bikes.

Wow, a Pinarello--that's awesome. It it one of the late 80s/early 90s models? Mmm...nothing quite like handmade Italian!

You should dig it out, clean it up, tune it up, and ride it!
Purchased in Italy in 1986. Pearl White and Spumoni paint job (replica bike of the one Lemond rode to the World Championship). Gruppo was purchased from Performance. Campy Record C seatpost, Modolo master titanium stem...Mavic Open4CD-32 clinchers with DT stainless spokes on Dura Ace hubs. I rode it for several years in Road Races and Crits.... never got out of Cat4 but loved road racing.

Dude, that's awesome. Sounds like a real beauty, and it was built exceedingly well!

Oh and weskimad, the seat is low (for now) because I've only had it one day and I'm still getting used to it--this has a much more aggressive stance than my other bike, which is much more relaxed geometry-wise. After riding it once, I know it's going to have to go up even more.

BTW it's a 57 and my other bike is a 56 (but known to run a bit large) so the size is fine. It's the FIT that's not right. LOL

I plan on getting a pro fit in a few weeks after I get a little more comfortable with it.

Last Saturday, I mountain biked for 2.5 hours over some nice terrain here in Ringwood NJ with a bud, afterwards we cracked open some beer and lit up a couple of 601 Green La Punta's. A cigar and a beer after working hard is perfect together. Really nice cigar.

I was almost hit riding home from work about a month back while riding my Rocky Mountain cyclo cross bike. I haven't gotten that out of my head yet, so it's been all mountain biking for me lately.

I ride around the lake, which is a MUP that runs parallel to a 20mph road.

There are parts I ride on the road, and parts on the MUP, but for the most part I only ride on the road in the same places where ALL the other bikers ride on the road. And like I said, it's only a 20mph road, so that's good.

I have of course ridden on regular streets, and I don't like that one damn bit. LOL

Avoiding road riding is not really a long term option for me, as I have a road riding weekend planned for July 11-12. We'll ride approx 100 miles each day over the weekend, with a route selected to take us to a Brewery or Brewpub every 2 hours of so. This will be the 4th year I have participated in our so called "Brewery Tour".

It was my first Brewery Tour where I was introduced to cigars. After completing a hard ride from Schroon lake NY to Burlington VT and back over two days (and climbing the 2500 foot Appalacian Gap 80 miles into the day 1 ride), a friend offered my a cigar while chilling out with a beer on the deck. I've enjoyed a weekly cigar (or so) ever since.

My road bike is an older Klein, and it's amazing how that bike rockets forward compared to my Cyclocross bike.

I just saw a sweet Klein today--interesting that's what you have! What cross bike do you have?

Also, FWIW, I think I'd be okay with road riding in a group ride situation (and that's exactly what I'm moving towards doing). The problem is that riding on the road by myself is fucking terrifying because everyone is trying to kill me with their cars. LOL

My cross bike is a Rocky Mountain Rail.

My Road bike is a Klein (as already mentioned).
My Mountain bike is a Fuji Ti Hardtail, A Rocky Mountain Full Suspension, a Redline single speed, and a Cannondale Tandem.

Bikes are a lot like cigars. No matter how many you have, you need more.

I know what you mean. LOL

I've only been riding since September, and I'm already up to two bikes (plus my wife has one). Oh wait, there's also an older mountain bike in the garage. LOL
