eff. it won't let me past in 2 links. The other choice is [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Monster-THXI100-FO8NF-Certified-Toslink-Fiber/dp/B0006HQ7HC/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1317579878&sr=1-5"]Amazon.com: Monster THXI100-FO8NF THX Certified Toslink Fiber Optic Audio Cable (8 feet): Electronics@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41stgmKXOaL.@@AMEPARAM@@41stgmKXOaL[/ame]

Which LG did you end up with? The LG 60PV450? If so, the output it has for digital audio, is to use this cable.

edit-I think I have a few spare of these sitting around. I will check when we get to the RV park this evening. If I have one with me-it's yours.

so hdmi from the tv to the digital box, hdmi to the xbox...

from the digital set top box to the stereo with optical or digital coax...and keep it on one input on the stereo at all times...

if you don't already have one, get a universal remote, like a harmony...

something like this

So I got the fiber optic cable. Front speakers are working but thats all. If.I'm reading right I may not be able to get all.to.work without using the remote, which I DON'T have. Does this sound right?

if you get a harmony remote it will take the place of the original remote, giving you every option you had previously. But if you go through the manual, it may tell you how to get the surround working.

It sounds like you have the stereo option chosen on the receiver. Whichs puts your 2 fronts (L&R) on and the others (Center, L Rear, R Rear and Sub off.

go to page 37 of the remote...read on from there and try the different settings.
