So tell me, in that my experience with a Te-Amo was terrible. Are the cigars down there any good and if so, which ones come with your recommendation?

The Anniversario line is hit and miss....I've tried some of them that are just ok, some of them are actually good. Not oustanding smokes but just plain good smokes for the money. The best are the toros and piramides IMO.
The cabinet selection line is average, and they definetly need some aging (when fresh can be very, very harsh).
The Te-Amo Gran Reserva is actually a very nice smoke, but hard to find even in Mexico.
The regular line.....:barf: awful, I share your opinion on them.
Tabamex and Santa Clara Gran Reserva are much much better mexican cigars.
A. Turrent Organic Series is very good too, but hard to find and for the same price you can get some great nics and hondurans.
