  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I grabbed a bottle of the Eagle Rare 17 year locally. $59 even, so I'm good to go. Thanks to Fredneck for offering to buy me a bottle and ship it.

Binny's has it still on line for less than that Mike. $59.99 + less than $15 to ship to Florida so probably right around there for most places. You can also buy by the case (3 bottles).

Hehe, I'm still not sold on a case of the Eagle Rare 17. The local store I found it at had quite a few bottles in stock and it doesn't seem to jump off the shelves like Stagg so I'm holding off until I get another chance to taste it. It was good, don't get me wrong, but I don't know if I liked it THAT much. I also need to grab a bottle of the 10 year to compare.

Don't pay that man, that's fricking ridiculous. It's still out there to be found in places. Anyone in Northern VA who wants some? I was just on Straight Bourbon and some guy said there are 6 bottles at his local ABC for $55. If there's anyone interested in that area I'll be happy to ask for the particular store.

I am strictly going by your expertise and the fact that it appears to be fairly rare and highly spoken about. If it's that good AND hard to come by, I would like to have a couple bottles for special occasions, like BOTL Herfs.

I am currently doing the same thing with Don Julio 1942 Tequila....this stuff is AWESOME and also hard to get. I am not into Tequila that much, but this stuff is fine sipping Tequila......has a lot of similarities with nice single malt cask strength scotch. If you can find it, I would highly recomend it......I have seen it for $125 per bottle, but there is a liquor store in Clifton, NJ that has it on sale for $80!!! I ordered 2 bottles online!

If you find it online, it's going to be costly. Got to find a local place. Have you tried emailing Buffalo Trace to find out who the disti is in your area? From there if you can get the Disti to talk to you then you might be able to find out who gets allocation in your area.

Mike, to clarify:

I stand by my review of this Bourbon. The, bar none, best I've had. Powerful as shit, but wonderful none-the-less. That being said, PERSONALLY I won't pay more than $60-ish per bottle for it. Do I think it might be worth more than that? Sure as hell. But I just have this thing about paying alot more than what retail is for something. This stuff comes out on the shelves for anywhere from under $50 (I think I saw someone post $45 as the lowest) to right at $60. If it were $100 bottle of Bourbon, I probably wouldn't be trying near as hard to get a stockpile going. But for the cost, I think it's a bargain, and more importantly, I can actually afford it!

So, I don't want to tell you not to pay something for it only to have it completely disappear on you, just wanted to clarify where I stood. It's out there sitting on shelves around the country as we speak...it's just a matter of finding those shelves, and having them either be close by or near someone willing to ship to us.:smokingbo

NOW. If you were to decide Ebay was really the way to go, and were willing to spend the dollars, I'd consider the following:

The ENTIRE Antique collection

5 bottles, $500.

i emailed brett at binney's. he told me to check back in the fall!! i'll keep ya'll posted....

That will be the 2007 release. I know of two stores in my general area that carry it. I'll be calling both in the next couple of days to see if they'll "wait-list" me or in some other way guarantee me an allocation. Depending on what they allow me will depend on how much I go on the line for. I want at least a case when it comes out.

I can't for a minute believe they actually have this in stock, but check out: Union Square Wines. That looks to me to be a bottle of the 2005 G.T. Stagg for $79.99. A steal online for the 2006 bottle, that's a complete DEAL for a 2005 bottle. I tried putting in my Zip, no go, tried yours Mike, and got this:
We regret that we are unable to ship spirits outside of NY State. Please call us at (212) 675-8100 to discuss alternate arrangments. Thank you.

Maybe said "alternate arrangements" might actually include shipping. Otherwise, they are in NY...maybe a bro' there could pick up and ship...

I have a possible line on a bottle of 2006 and 2005 already locally so I'm not going after it.
