  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I give it five more years before all internet sales of tobacco is illegal. I don't think the SCHIP returns are going to be as high as the pols are thinking they will be, and they'll turn up the screws to collect every dollar.

I agree with you at least on the state bans. Many of them did it years ago with cigarettes in order to keep their tax revenue, and with these times as they are now it would be no surprise to see states make that move towards cigars too.

One thing I wonder about is when we buy cigars online, and do not report them to our states, we are technically avoiding paying our own state taxes. With this in mind, do we have much of a leg to stand on when it comes to CRA or IPCPR helping consumers who may be seen as "breaking tax laws"?

I would love to hear opnions from people who know more then I do.

I found an article about this in the Salt Lake Tribune. It states that only wholesalers, retailers, and distributors will be allowed to buy them online. It does state however, that anyone can post a $500 bond to get around this ban.

It's ridiculous that they make you do it, but in all honesty, a $500 bond isn't too bad. I might sign up for it soon before they close the loophole that will allow anyone to buy the bond and be allowed to purchase tobacco online.

You can bet your dolphin tail that the state of U-Tar will be watching your mailbox if you sign up for the bond!!

That's okay, so long as I'm being legal, they can't do anything to me. Even if they want to tax me, so be it, online sales still tend to be much cheaper than my local B&M's except when it comes to Opus.

I'll just have to have Jeeper order all of our Cubans. :bouncetau
