  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I haven't picked mine up yet. I'm not concerned about the two year warranty. I'd be ecstatic if a lighter last me that long. Hasn't happened yet and I've gone through 4-5 of those ugly ronsons with the same luck. Maybe I'm just hard on lighters. /shrug

I know this thread has been stagnant, but I picked up the matte black Palio lighter a week or so ago and have been using it exclusively. I have to say that for a single jet it's been fantastic. The quality of finishing on the bottom where the screw cap covers the filling port and the flame adjuster are pretty trick. I picked it and the double pouch up after realizing my Prometheus Ultimo X3 was leaking and no longer holding any butane. I'm sending the Ultimo back for repairs, but I'm not sure how much use it will see if this lighter keeps on rocking like it is. I'm a Palio cutter fan boy though, so I guess I had a predisposition to liking the product. That said, I've always used Prometheus lighters so for this to take my number one spot is pretty surprising to me.

On the warranty issue, I'm sorry but 2 years is a stretch for any lighter. The cutters are not intricate mechanical pieces and I can see being able to offer a lifetime on those, but I've never seen a lighter with a warranty as good as this one. At least one that was reasonably priced. I wouldn't hesitate to pick another one up. S.T. Dupont lighters are only warrantied for 2 years... If someone knows of an available lifetime warranty lighter I'd love to see it. Again, just my .02.

Xikar has a great lifetime warranty that covers their lighters (I'm pleased with the 4 xikar lighters I have).

That said, I'm interested in the Palio lighter as I would like to try the lighter made by the maker of my favorite cutter.

I can't believe I never noticed that. I've never seen a Xikar I fell in love with and as such have never owned one, but its good to know they actually do it and will replace them at no consumer cost.

It still doesn't make me think any less of the Palio, and until people get some years of hard use on them we won't know if that lifetime warranty is even needed.

They do honor their warranty as I had a Xikar lighter replaced after the jets stopped firing with 2.5 years of use.

No worries gents. I hadn't seen any pics that actually got all the details on the adjustment valve and fill valve, and I know that actually sold me on it when I saw the quality and finishing and felt the mechanism.

I know this doesn't apply to everyone, but I'll be bringing it with me to the Herf tomorrow at Coronas in Orlando so if you want to check it out first hand you'll have a chance.
