  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Quarantine cigars received in the mail?

Let me start by saying that I do not want to offend anybody. But I must ask this.

We all strive to keep our cigars at nice temps, and good humidity etc... But when they are shipped, we can control the humidity with some sort of boveda pack or something along that line... but we can't control the temperature in the postal truck, warehouses etc...
From what I understand, Cigar Beatles hatch in higher temperatures, and can spread from one cigar to the next and so on.

My question is, Do you guys "quarantine" cigars you receive trough bombs or trades? If so, how do you do it? zip top bag with humidity pack inside for a couple days/ weeks at the proper temperature, or do you guys freeze them, move them to the fridge, then into your humidors?

Thanks in advanced for all the answers and tips you guys can (and have) provide (provided)

One of my rules Danilo is from the point when I stop making major purchases is when the weather gets warm/hot. I start my purchasing again when the weather cools off. So from fall through spring is when I make purchases on boxes and such. The last thing I want to do is open a box of cigars and have little critters running around eating my goods. I see you're in Miami you might have the warm/hot weather problem all year round. I would use the freezer/fridge method on all of my purchases at that point.

Luckly for me, the miami heat has actually been letting off during the winter time... so that gives me a nice "safety" window... but some limited releases might have to be picked up in the dead heat of summer.
Either way, Thanks to the brotherhood, I have been pointed in the right direction, and have acquired the knowledge to protect my goodies.
Thanks Terran
