  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Another vote for the short story. It's might hard to beat. If you look to an ISOM, the Ramon Allones clubs are hard to beat.

The little CAOs that come in tins (Mx2, Italia, Brazilia, and also Gold but I haven't tried that one yet) are good for little cigars, 20 minutes or so. The CAO Cameroon and Maduro that come in tins are good too.

Also, the 5 Vegas Shorty Torpedo is an AWESOME little smoke, imvho. Cheap too. If you have a little more time the Oliva Special G is good. I also like the Trinidad "Trinidadito."

Oh yea, the 601 folks make a small cigar too (at least of the Red), like a 32-gauge or so. The Red one was good. Also, the DPG Black label comes in a very small size (tres petite corona?), and I thought that was a great little stick.

The Short Story isn't a "quick" smoke to me in this fashion--too good to rush.

I love a lot of petite coronas, but to me those are not usually 30-minute smokes.

I forgot the "tin" part, those are the ones I meant. Never figured out why they use tins (which I think are cool otherwise) instead of less-expensive, less-environmentally bad cardboard boxes.

Just because tins are cool...kind of like the old school cigarillo (or cigarette) cases people would keep in their pocket all the time.

I want to expand on this;

I have been looking for a decent commuter cigar. Something I can smoke in 25-30 minutes while driving in the morning AND the evening, daily. Can't break the bank, so the suggestions already made are pretty tall orders. We're talking 14 a week for a cigar that's occupying time. I would rather grab a noellas or similar to sit down with and enjoy.

So far, my best bet has been the Flor de Oliva series. Less than $2 for quality smokes, and I don't feel guilty for not paying attention to what I'm smoking and feel ok if I want to throw it out early.

Anybody have any other suggestions for smokes like this? I've experimented with the P series, but they are still up above the $ range I would want to spend.

Bear

PS- I'm mixing it up a bit with the pipe as well, and will throw in an Oliva G Special G for kicks once a week or so.

Padron 2000's can be had for a little over 3 bucks a stick. It's a little longer smoke than that, but if you had to ditch an inch of so it wouldn't be the end of the world and you would have a fine smoke.

Those Flor de Oliva are very tasty! CI has them for around $30/bundle of 25. They also have a lot of deals on seconds, etc. that fall into that same catagory. Holts too with thier $30 Fumadores. You can always smoke half on the way in & half on the way out too... Purge the stick before resting it... A few puffs after re-light & they usually aren't bad at all. I do this frequently with the DPG blacks - these tast fine after relight & they can be had for deals ($70-$80 for a box of Robustos on cbid, 'make an offer', etc.)..

Still, though- the Flor de Oliva coronas are only $1.23/stick (average). That's pretty hard to beat!

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm going to compile a list from these and try to get my hands on a lot of these and try them. I'm not a big fuente buff, are the short stories hard to get or are those pretty much always in stock?

Short Stories should be in stock pretty much everywhere, most of the time.

That's funny. I was just thinking about this topic last night and I searched "cigarillo" and "Small Cigar" and came up with a pretty good list to try. The CAO's, Partagas black (which I love as a magnifico(toro) and people reported the small one tastes the same), the petit Tatuaje's, and three habanos that I can't get!!! Everyone said the habanos are the ABSOLUTE BEST. I however was looking for something that was the size of a Cigarette but the quality of a cigar. I did the math for the size of a cigarette in cigar sizes it's 25.1 X 4.73. I figured if it looked like a dark cigarette they wouldn't notice that I was consuming a much higher quality product and harass me.
