I was just in Poland and stayed at the Hyatt in Warsaw. When I arrived Tuesday I visited the new LCDH and picked up a few nice smokes for the week ahead. After a great dinner at the hotel, being a Californian I went in search for the patio or bench where smokers are forced to enjoy thier evil habit. It was cold so I was not looking forward to sitting outside but Monte 2 I had just begged to be smoked. I asked at the desk for the smoking area and the manager escorted me to the huge open lounge in the lobby. Here I was seated by the lounge manager who rushed to get me an ashtray. A CIGAR ashtray. He then offered me a bottle of pelligrino since I don't drink. The manager asked if he coukd do the honors and carefully cut and toasted my cigar then held it for me and lit the end with a beautiful torch which he left for me to use. He complimented my choice of smoke brought some pastries, nuts and a newspaper then left me to enjoy the cigar. Later he came by with a small humi of the house cigars, all excellent lables with good prices. He said I was welcome to smoke my own cigars but wanted me to know they could obtain ANYTHING that I wanted with a little notice.

In all it was a wonderful relaxing enjoyable experience. I went back every night and at least one morning.

I could not help thinking that this is how life should be, used to be. No one complained. No one sneered. Just a man allowed to enjoy a cigar.

I think I like Poland.

Wonderful. That's how jaded we've become...always thinking about where we can and can't smoke.

I agree that things should be like that but rarely are. As close of an experience to that that I have is lighting a cigar while waiting for your luggage.

Wow, that does sound pretty wonderful.

Thanks for letting us know of this! I'll have to add this to my list of future vacation spots!

WOW! I had to double-check the date of the first post to make sure I wasn't reading an old, revived thread!

With just a little effort, we could replicate the hospitality they still provide... Sounds like they really took care of you!

If that doesn't put a smile on your face, nothing ever will!

we in the US enjoy some wonderful liberties (which are slowly being taken away) but the freedom we enjoy comes with a hefty price tag. But, the grass isn't always greener on the other side...

Regardless, I'm glad you had that experience, it's nice to get away from it all for a while!
