  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

The Official MMA thread.

I'm gonna go Penn he looks like hes coming in-in shape. You can't count GSP out though he's an freak of an athlete but I think Penn makes up for by being born with a killer instinct and I don't think that can be taught. It could definitely go either way.

The Penn V GSP fight is going to be an awesome one. I don't belief it will be won by submission. It could go either way though. Im going with Penn, but agree GSP is no slouch either.

Wouldn't you like to know?
My problem is size difference. I think when Penn tries to fight at the heavier class his conditioning is never great. I also a huge fan of gsp but think that Silva will be way to much for him. Silva should only fight light heavy weight as that will be the only way I think he can be beat.

Penn weighed in at 168 so he didn't have to cut, so technically it could be an advantage. I think he's a little more dedicated now too. It's gonna be good know matter what though.

Silva walks around at 235! and cuts down to around 200 with training and dehydrates before the weigh in for the rest.

he always looks good as a light weight but not when he is allowed to keep the weight. Not the same fighter at all.
I think Penn could definitely be a reigning champ at light weight.
GSP and Alves should be interesting cuz Alves is a huge 170. He comes in around 200. We'll prolly see that at UFC 100 in July.

Resurrect my old thread.
WEC on Live Versus this Saturday 10PM some great fights on this card. Also I just found out I'm going to see UFC 111 in Newark NJ. This is a great card. Luxury box seats too! The last live fight I saw was UFC 101 in Philly.

A lot of great cards coming up in the next few months.

UFC Signs Boxing Champion James Toney, Debut Date Uncertain

After a long period of off-again, on-again courtship, the UFC has pulled the trigger and signed 41-year-old boxing champion James Toney.

UFC President Dana White confirmed the signing to MMA Fighting after it was first reported by FiveOuncesofPain.com.

Toney had actively campaigned for a contract from the UFC, following White around the country to several events and eventually meeting with him in Las Vegas. Toney reportedly turned down at least one contract offer before signing.

Asked when Toney would debut, White said he had "no idea."

With a professional boxing record of 73-6-2 with one no contest, Toney is among the great boxers of his era, winning titles in six different weight classes ranging from middleweight to heavyweight. He last fought in Sept. 2009, earning a second-round TKO victory over Matthew Greer.

It's unknown which weight class he will compete in, as his weight has fluctuated from anywhere between 219 to 257 in fights over the last few years, though heavyweight seems the most likely possibility.

In the past, White noted that he may have some trouble promoting Toney as a legitimate mixed martial artist after criticizing other athletes that had made late-career changer like Strikeforce star Herschel Walker, but he always voiced an interest in Toney as a "real fighter" capable of making the transition.

"Listen, let me tell you what: I got blasted this week? Let me make this fight (with Toney)," White said after UFC 108. "That will get me f****** blasted. I'm the first guy out there going, 'This is a freak show. Who would put on a fight like this?' I'm the first guy that would say that. I'm always saying it when freak shows happen. I don't know what's going to happen."

Toney has reportedly been training in MMA for some time in hopes of making his octagon debut. Now it appears he'll finally get the chance he's campaigned for, and in doing so, he will become the most decorated boxer ever to fight in the UFC.
