  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I opened a couple new bottles this week. A Booker's Tommy's Batch because it is my "retirement" bottle and I just "retired" again.

The next was a 1792 Full Proof, a Sal's pick single barrel. I wasn't expecting much, the last few Sal's picks gave been somewhat disappointing, and I am through with them unless it's something crazy allocated. This actually turned out pretty good though. :lr

Opened the Hazmat bottle and gave it a try. There's no acetone or anything unappealing for a 155 proof bourbon. It has lots of oak, char, hickory, mesquite...I would call it a campfire. It does not have the complexity or depth of flavor that the last two Hazmat bottles had. (Mattingly Razor's Edge at 141.2 and ECBP at 140.2). Worth the price of admission if for nothing but the novelty.

Friday drop at Binny's was EH Taylor Single Barrel. My first one, I was happy to get it at retail.

They also had the 2024 Pinhook 8 Year Vertical marked down to $34. I think it was $99 MSRP and is tasty, so that was a no-brainer.

I cracked the Taylor, just subtle differences from the small batch...so still really good.

$34 for the Pinhook is a steal. The single barrel EH Taylor.....wow!
