  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Finished whiskey. I know I just said I had to stop.

I paid for this before I said that.

I actually tried this one before buying. Probably my favorite finished pour since the early days of Midwinter Night's Dram.

You wouldn't think this would appeal to me. Double cask finish with the first being maple syrup barrels. Yup.

Second finish in Cuban rum barrels. This might have intrigued the old me (read: 2 days ago).

I had it at a retirement party seeing a lot of old friends, so the situation may have been part of the reason I liked it. I hope it wasn't the only reason.

Friends came over to sit on the deck last night. We killed most of the Remus Gatsby Reserve (after killing a bottle of Clase Azul Reposado). They all made it home ok, and I'm not even hungover, which is scary.

The last two times we've gone up to Wisconsin to have dinner with my GF's parents, I've had a pour of a different 2X0 bourbon, and liked them both.

Found a deal for both and each was $30 under suggested retail (and what they cost at Binny's), plus a $10 coupon. Made it an easy decision.

Stopped by to grab some club picks (a couple have been waiting for me since last year), An ECBP pick, a Maker's Mark pick which is allegedly delicious, and the Rare Breed.

The club did a barrel pick of Russell's Reserve a couple years ago, and kept the barrel. So they then filled the barrel with bottles of Rare Breed at 116.3 proof and let it age almost 15 months. Each participating member's share was about 500 ml, I had ordered two. It dumped again at 121 proof.

Opened up one last night, it's interesting. I can taste the barrel char and the added jolt. I am going to have to see if they kept any of the original Rare Breed for comparison.

Hit the Binny's after grabbing the club picks, they had a 10 year+ Knob Creek pick at $25 off. Grabbed that and the last EHT on the shelf.
