Good day at Binny's yesterday with the new general manager who seems to like me better than the old one. Grabbed the Elijah Criag 18 Year single barrel off the service counter, 1 of 2 left. GM walks up to me in the aisle and says, "Tom, do you want an Elijah Criag 18?". I pop my hand up and show him I had already snagged one. "How about a Blanton's Gold then?". I like this guy....

I was in Charleston last weekend and went to the oldest liquor store in the US. Very small place. The sales floor is maybe 14' long and 7' wide.

I had an interesting after dinner pour while out with the GF last night. Jack Daniel's Twice Barreled Reserve Rye. The palate was ok, but it was the finish that was intriguing. A few seconds after every sip went down, barrel char on the back of the throat. Never remember tasting it so clearly, I liked it a lot.

The cigar shops down here are the same way. They charge double what I was paying at shops in Reno and Cali.One of my locals has that Chicken Cock CC Rye for $399, and I thought they were nuts!
I went to three shops in Charleston and walked out. Only one shop in GA i'll go to. I don't understand it.

Opened the new 2025 MM Wood Finished release, Keeper's. On first pour, it's probably my least favorite of all the MM wood finished releases. Even "oakier" than the Heart release. Not awful, just doesn't match what they've put out up 'til now. We'll see if it improves with a little time. I'm glad I only bought 1.
