Truly Cheap --- not "I'm such a snob I have to persuade you that ten bucks seems cheap to me" cheap:

home rolled Uppowoc Perfecto Mataloto (mata fine and piloto cubano bound and wrapped in habano 2000) ~ 80 cents
FX Smith's Sons Smithdale maduro perfecto ~ 80 cents
Aurora robusto seconds ~ 2 bucks at c.com (seconds are a great way to smoke a fine cigar on a budget)
Rosalones Consul ~ 2 bucks at cigarbid
Nat Shernam host selection ~ 2 bucks at JR

Now that's a budget. Five fine smokes for the price of lunch at Taco Belch.

I think we need to differentiate prices a bit. A good portion of my smokes are sub $5 because I buy by the box and look for deals. All of these are below $5 considering the box price I typically buy for:

Jaime Garcia reserva especial
Oliva serie V
Buena Vista edicion limitada (super cheap)
Undercrown corona viva
My father la antiguedad

I'm not so certain that you can find a 'budget' cigar in a B&M, at least not in SoCal. I found that once I started ordering wisely on-line...meaning shopping specials on very good but in my wheelhouse cigars...there was no such thing as a 'budget' cigar. I went from paying $9-12 in the local B&M's to paying $2-4 for the same cigars on-line! Now, I hate not to patronize local businesses, I get it why it's very important to do so, but I just can't pass up the savings! The local B&M's simply didn't offer the good enough services or other advantages to justify the difference in price. Sad, but true. I still use local B&M's for those special treat cigars...Padron 1926, Opus X, Illusion Fume de Amour, similar, but I fill my humidor on line.

Off the top of my head. I'm sure there would be a different list next time.

Honorable mention goes to Bull City Cigar Company Corojo Maduro Coronas at $7. They are only available in shop.

That first home roll sounds delicious. Have you tried it with a Besuki wrapper?

Oliva O or V seconds (we're talking cheap, right?)
5 Vegas Miami, Cask strength, or AAA (your pick)
Fallen Angel
Studio Tabac The Reckoning

I pretty regularly get all of these for less than $3.50/stick, except MOW which are closer to $4. Oliva seconds are the real bargain. Good as the firsts, but usually about $2.00 - 2.50/stick

Very surprised that a short story has not appeared yet. Very good relatively inexpensive stick for a newbie that is not overpowering and not too long.
Other than that I would say these...
Oliva (anything really)
Undercrown (for the price a great smoke imo)
Casa de garcia maduro (super cheapo but the only one I can stand in the line)
Cracker crumbs ( how was this not here already as well?)

Everyone's version of cheap is obviously going to vary. Heck mine can vary from week to week! Hah!
All of these are obtainable for under 7 a stick. To me they are cheaper smokes that are good to great. But not classified as yard gars But I'd have to list
Tat tramp stamp
Diesel unholy cocktail
Roma craft mode 5's
La palina kill Bill 2
And the traveleurs and cracker crumbs

Let me trot out a ceegar that I just bought a fiver of, and smoked last night for the first time...the Foundry Chillin' Moose...a house brand at Cigars International...the fiver cost me $19.95, a box of twenty is, I believe, in the upper forties...nothing complex, a mild to medium, very rich, smoke...

I agree with the Man o' War Ruination as a great 'cheap' cigar. An outstanding cigar, regardless of price point. I will lean toward this one over some much more expensive sticks in my humidor, quite often!

Some of these sticks that people are trotting out as 'cheap' have me scratchin' my head! I don't know what 'cheap' means, I reckon, but I define it as something between two and four bucks, that have qualities of stogies costing much more. To me, that's budget! A five to eight dollar stick isn't to me, cheap!

Might as well chime in...

Genesis The Project - Ramon Bueso ~$2
601 Red Label- Famous ~$2
Brazillia - CAO ~$3
Nub Cameroon - Oliva ~$3
MUWAT - Drew Estate ~$3-$5

In my experience these are typical auction prices. YMMV.
