  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Andre has his own facility, tobacco and rollers in Nicaragua.
Hey Larry not sure if you are mistaken here or if I'm misunderstanding what you mean, but Andre does not own his own facility, have his own rollers or tobacco.

Below is who rolls his cigars... and thanks Cyrann as I'm stealing what you wrote as I'm too lazy... :)

Viaje was originally made by the same people responsible for JDN, but now, Andre's cigars are made by Tobacalera Tropical

Don't' get me wrong, I love Viaje cigars, IMHO, I think that small "boutique" manufacturers should focus on a smaller amount of lines, rather than put out dozens of different lines in their brand. Focusing on their original lines usually results in better quality control, ensuring consistency; maintaining brand integrity. When you start making scores of different blends/lines; the focus on their original, regular production lines can lose out the attention needed.
Padilla, RP, gurkha, graycliff, are some examples on how a once great brand has now become less respected, w/ quality, and consistency issues, questions of the integrity, resulting in less desirability of the brand.

On other forums, and talk amongst other BOTLs, this is starting to happen w/ Tatuaje, questioning, and becoming less sought after. I am not one of those people, I love Tatuaje.

A good example, however, is Sosa cigars. They stay simple, and their product is always excellent,

Sure, and 99% of cigar smokers have never heard of Sosa.

The reason these boutique cigar makers are releasing these limited sticks is for one reason only: To get their name known, and therefore drive new sales.

Tatuaje is a prime example of this at work. Before the Frank, very few people had any idea who Pete Johnson is....Now, quite a few people do.

LEs are the "In" thing right now...cigar makers will continue to release them until people get so sick of them, they stop selling. That WILL NOT happen anytime soon, I assure you.

BTW, IMHO, Tatuaje is NOT becoming Less sought after, only more bitched about...big difference in my mind. In fact, the more they are bitched about online and other places, the more sticks they sell.

I've tried sosa cigars a few times and can never enjoy them...they are cheap though...maybe a good bang for the buck if that's how one buys their cigars.

Last Week? What? I'm late to the Dance? Where do you guys
get this info at?:hysterica

"Mark also noted that a Spring stick is coming out akin to the Holiday Blend (which by the way I have one (1) left) I am all over a box split with a friend of mine for these."

This is what I gathered from the article I read last week....

The "Summerfest" will be part of the "Seasonal Series", of which the "Holiday Blend" was the first. These are the only two blends in the series.

The "Summerfest" will be available in the Torpedo mentioned above and a Robusto.

anyone know anything on the Viaje Double Edged Sword?

I haven't heard much of anything....except the name, and that it is coming soon.

I just got into the Viaje line recently, and I have enjoyed every one I tried. I have a skull & bones, but haven't smoked it yet.....looks very simliar to a T110, and I heard was just as powerful. I had the chance to buy a box, but I didn't....I bet when I smoke the one I have, I'm going to be kicking myself in the ass for passing up a whole box of these!!

I smoked the S&B this weekend and it wasn't nearly as powerful as I expected. It's a very tasty cigar nonetheless. Actually glad I didn't buy a bunch at the given price tag. Got a few more holiday blends coming in this week, now there's a phenomenal Viaje cigar!

Ok, this is what I know of Viaje. The reason the do LE cigars is that they find tobacco that they like and then make cigars. if there is only enough tobacco for 300 boxes then that is what they make. it is not becuase they only want to get the name out. they are just willing to make great cigars no matter what. Dog watch radio ahs a great interview with Adre Farkas, President of Viaje, done on jan. 26th 2010.

I'm totally OK with, and appreciative of, a cigar that is truly an LE. I do get frustrated when a cigar comes out as an LE and you rush to get them only to have them become a regular production stick when they are popular.

Well, to each their own, and everyone can have their own opinions.

To ME, they are less sought after. I will buy certain Tats if they "fall into my lap" (like a certain box of Cuadrados recently did), but I'm not going out of my way for the special releases.

So, in my opinion, they are less sought after.

Here is what I dont understand about Viaje's cigars:

Why is their limited runs so much better than their regular production Oro & Platinos????
