Okay, I know....it's not so much the camera as the lens and the skill of the person, but I'm curious to know what everyone else is using. I shoot mostly with a Sony a65 w/ a Sony 18-135 lens. I also shoot with a Sony HX100 in places that don't allow DSLR's (until I get my media credentials). It's a hybrid that has the majority of the features of a DSLR but without the ability to change lenses. With 30X optical zoom, it's great for most sporting events and concerts.

I mainly use my Canon 5D Mark II with various lenses. I shoot concerts and editorial for a bunch of organizations and bands.

I really want the Mark III, but I keep buying cigars haha

Canon 40d with a couple of lenses. All primes. 35, 50, 85 and 200mms. Looking at getting something wider when the funds allow it.

The kit 18-55 is a decent all around lens. Served me well for a few years. Where are you headed on your trip?

Road tripping from GA to CA. Stopping at several breweries as well as a meet up with Mr. Huber that I am way excited about! My family has not ever really been out of GA/AL, so taking them back to where I came from is going to be awesome. It is somewhat of a bday gift to myself as well. After I get back from Afghanistan we take leave around Dec 15...so yeah, super stoked...now just trying to find a camera of worth to document it.

Damn that sounds like an awesome trip. Jealous. You might be able to find a used T3 or T3i if you check out any local camera shops. We have a few shops in town that sell used gear. And that gives you a chance to pick up and try out the camera to make sure everything is working and you like it before you buy it.

The bad, still shooting with a 30D.....the not so bad, picked up a 70-200 2.8 when I bought it(along with the 17-85 kit lens that came with it). Really want to pick up a 7D, but travel fees continue to make that a want, not a need.....

Singulary bought a DLSR and the lens to take pics of my kid(now kids) playing hockey, which I couldn't do before with the P&S.... They have, along with their respective teams, been able to watch their years playing in photos....

The big one....

..and little one....
