After Mark's contest I thought it would be interesting to here what everyone elses first car was?

Mine was a 1972 Pontiac LeMans. it looked just like the 1972 GTO but didn't have the hood scoops and Tach on the hood, the car was fast as hell.

1977 MGB Convertible.

Looked just like this one.

My Dad traded a 1984 Chevy Citation even up for it when I was 13 and it was pretty bad off, still driveable, but in need of some serious work. It sat in the back yard for two years until I was 15 and then we stared working on it. Over the next year we restored it to about 90%, didn't reupholster it. We finished working on it three days before my 16th birthday. I'll never forget that year of my life nor that car. :smt023

78 Caprice Classic coupe with the law enforcment package option. Was my parent's car that I bought off my mom when I was 15. It had some age on it when I bought it, but it would still do over 150mph. I don't know how I lived past high school.

Mine was a '68 Galaxy 500. I had that car for 10 years and had to get rid of it (long story). Then last summer we were headed to a friends house out in the middle of the sticks, and I saw it setting in a yard! It still had all the stuff (stickers/painting/....) on the windows and hanging from the mirror! I'm tempted to offer the guy a few bucks for it and bring my Gal home. ( I still have the title for it, another long story)

1989 Volvo 240 DL. Got it with 301,000 miles on it, drove/repaired it till 304,000 miles then gave it away and got a Subaru Forester. I do miss my volvo at times, though.

Mine was a '74 Nova hatchback that was what I called baby puke green. Luckily for me though I was working at a dealership that had its own bodyshop, which is where I worked. Thanks to a buddy that worked there, it was soon a cool looking emerald green with some nice white racing stripes across the bottom. Some nice tires & wheels, as well as a hopped up engine courtesy of another buddy that worked over in the mechanic shop, and I had a car that helped me get my license suspended about six months later.

Oh well, I was a teenager ya know!! :smt003

A 1968 Dodge Dart GT, 273 V8 4 speed back in 1984.
It snowed 8 inches the day I got it and I went out that night trying to practice driving in a shopping center parking lot. Got feeling cocky and started doing doughnuts and ran OVER a stop sign. The front of the car came off the ground.

1977 Oldsmobile Delta 88. It was the family car and I got it after my dad, mom and sister had all driven it. Powerful engine but not a "fast car". Good for cramming a lot of people in and definitely had a great backseat for, well, you know.

Mine was a 1961 MGA that I bought from a Eastern Airline pilot. It had 45000 miles on it in 1980 and I loved that car. My best friend borrowed it and totaled it by running into the rear of a work truck that I was driving. It was a sad, sad day. I only had the car for 3 months.

1972 Toyota Celica, light blue with a white half roof. I think that was the first year they made these. It was two years old when I got it. It was great on gas and I hit 110 MPH in it with 4 guys while heading to Daytona Beach.

Ahhh, another Galaxy. Mine was a '71 Ford Galaxy 500. Drove it during high school and into college. The trunk on this car was absolutely huge, which made it great for keg runs. The doors were so long and heavy (two-door car) that it pulled a girl clean out of the car one time. She was a date to a party - had a little too much to drink. On the way home, she felt like she needed to chuck, so I pulled over to the side of the road. She opened the door just a bit and, because we were on an incline, the door started to swing open and she held onto it - pulled her right out. Ahhhh, the memories.

My first car was a 1980 Olds. Cutlass Supreme. I bought it used and it did not come with a radio. Drove around with a boombox in the passenger seat for about a year until I got around to putting one in.

1969 Olds Cutlass, bought for $300. Was a beater - bought from a friend of my parents. Had 120000 hard miles. Drove it for awhile until the valve lifter noise could be heard above the radio ... then my uncle and I rebuild the engine (350 Rocket w/4 bbl carb). Drove it for another year (and two set of back tires) and then gave it to my brother for his first car.
