I've had the pleasure to enjoy pappy 20 once and pappy 15 a few times. Both are fantastic (I actually prefer the 15), but not worth the price the market commands.

There are a lot of good recommendations in this thread. Bulleit is my go to for every day. It's cheap and tasty. I break out Blanton's for special occasions.

I also bought a bottle of the Old Forrester Birthday Bourbon this year that is fantastic. Pricey at about $80, but worth it.

I looked for the buff trace antique collection this year, but it seemed like the prices sky rocketed this year. Im really trying to get my hands on some George T Stagg.

Valid point. Blended scotch whiskeys. I suppose in my unassuming hillbilly thought process, brown liquors that aren't rum are considered bourbon. That point notwithstanding, I do enjoy a Maker's mark manhattan. In fact, when I go out for a high-society dinner with the old lady, I'll order a MM manhattan.

If anyone gets a line on ER17 this year please let me know. That's the only btac I've not had and I don't recall even seeing it in the dc area. If you've had it Id like to know your thoughts in relation to the rest of the btac

I have had a lot of PVW over the last 10 to 12 years. I always thought the 23 was too woody. The 20 was excellent and the 15 just a wheat powerhouse at 107 proof. The Family Reserve 12 year old Lot B is a just a refined beauty...very elegant with deep black cherry flavors. The 10 year old Old Rip Van Winkle at 107 proof is quite a whiskey in its own right. Don't know if they make this one anymore. The last few bottles of 10 that I have seen were all 90 proof. These are excellent bourbons. Unfortunately damn near impossible to find. When Pappy first started putting this bourbon out it was old Steizler-Weller whiskey. Gradually over the years less and less SW whiskey was put into them as there was only so much of it. Now I think only the 23 has a smidgen of it in it. They have also sourced some old barrels from Heaven Hills and the rest is made at Buffalo Trace. The barrels that go into the Van Winkle line are had selected by Preston and Julian Van Winkle (Pappy's Grandson) and occupy the best locations in the BT warehouse. Still a fine bourbon but not quite what it was. They did put out a Family Reserve Rye but that has been discontinued.

Here are three that I am enjoying very much over the last year or so. That William Larue Weller is from the BTAC. When it first came out there was an age statement on the WLW that was stated at 19 years old. This is a later bottling and has no age statement. Now, buddy that is a wheater and as fine a whiskey as you could ever want IMHO. Does need a touch of branch water though. The other two are rye based though very different in style and taste. Very impressed with the EH Taylor and I buy the 4 Roses Single Barrel and Small Batch by the case every year so I drink a lot of it. Just reliably delicious.

Okay, even though yo may drink both Rye Bourbons and Wheat Bourbons from time to time, you must, like most of us, lean more towards one or the other.
So which is it? Are you leaning towards Rye Bourbons or the Wheat Bourbons and which are you top 3, at this time, in that category?
I'll start!
I am a Wheat Bourbon guy and my favorite 3, at this time are:
Weller 12yo
Makers Mark 46
and for a lighter hit, when in the mood, Rebel Yell

Thought you guys may get a kick out of this. This is an Old Rip Van Winkle liquor bottle that actually contained Old Fitzgerald. That was the whiskey that Pappy made back when he was in the business at SW.
