I've been thinking of getting into vinyl over the last year or so. My parents gave me a bunch of albums from the 70's and early 80's. I need to pick up a player.
The only thing that is stopping me is that I would probably end up with a huge collection just like with cigars which might lead me to get a second job to support my collecting habits. lol

I haven't bought anything new audio related stuff the past 5 years. I used to be heavy into records and still have my system, but very few records. I lost them all in a tornado back in 2011 and I haven't tried to replaced any them. I do still fire up my stereo from time to time but just listen to CD's. I do miss the sound quality of records done well.

Man, years later I finally am getting around to posting the setup I have as of today.

First, I am also playing an Audio Technica; I have the LP-120 and absolutely love it! I added a cork mat and a disc stabilizer.

My speakers are currently a set of computer speakers (ugh). I'm about to buy the Klipsch R-15PM speakers (hopefully). My old receiver and speaker setup was borrowed from a friend and I had to give them back.

Here's a shot of my records so far. These are all since last December (8 months ago) when my wife bought me my first record player (which has been replaced to the AT above).

This weekend was our 14th anniversary so we went up to KC and did some shopping. She dragged me to all kinds of antique malls and what not - I always end up looking for records at these places. I ended up picking these up:
.

As I get more records in, I'll post them here.

Do you find the cork mat to be better in any way? Any reason for that?
