coke or pepsi?

sometimes whiskey does well with RC Cola if you can find it. Some scotch is nice with Shasta Cola, which I've had good luck with finding at walmart around here.

:)
I prefer my diabetes to come via ice cream, so usually I just pour my whiskey over Vanilla. Maybe Cookies and Cream if I'm really feeling bold.

You both make valid points about alcohol. I agree with you fellas. And I think Jon lies about his problems with over priced cigars.
I never said I wasn't still buying overpriced cigars, just that I haven't bought double bands recently ;)

You're an excellent troll. I almost jumped out of my chair reading your blasphemy.
Everyone has their niche.

You're missing the point. He has fans and a customer base, and a lot of those people are going to simply miss out on this release due to price tag issues. Gurkhas' His Majesty Reserve isn't meant for most people at the MSRP price either and the idiots who spend their money on it are just that, idiots. It's more about owning something expensive than it is smoking an excellent product. At $100/single I'm sure many of the same fools will buy this because of the price tag, which isn't about getting the product into your supporters/fans hands. Let's not forget Steve Saka is the same guy who said you can't make a good cigar for less than $10, which is obviously complete horseshit. As to your points:
- Selling through doesn't make it acceptable IMO. This is the same as saying the end justifies the means, which it doesn't.
- No one is forced to buy anything, that's absolutely true. Not sure what the fuck that has to do with what I'm saying.
- As I previously mentioned, its a contrived asinine concept to me so I have a difference of opinion on this matter.
- Not necessarily, there's always a point of diminishing returns on everything. Value is always a consideration for me.
- I'm not a fanboy or an idiot with a complete lack of understanding of the value of a dollar. Additionally, I understand the amount of great cigars available on the primary and secondary markets (NC and CC) that cost far, far less. So no, I wouldn't be the target audience for this, because I'm not a dipshit.
- What? Yeah, you're dead on, I guess. While its certainly not my thing, lots of people happily pay money to a dominatrix to get their balls stomped on. Doesn't make that a good use of funds in my book.
I don't understand your "fans and customer base" comment. Is a brand supposed to make all of their products affordable and accessible to all of their fans and customers?

Selling through means that there are enough fans and customers that can afford it. Because you are so value conscious in everything doesn't make the concept he is trying wrong. It just makes it wrong to you, which is fine as I said before, you're not the intended customer for this product.

Affordable is a tricky definition. What is considered affordable to one person, obviously won't be to another. At $100, I'd make the argument that affordable has went right out the window. Accessible is also tricky, what is the right amount to produce, wanting to keep a product limited, etc, etc. I'll tell you what, at the very least I'd say it would be fair to at least not give his supporters and fans a big middle finger, which is what this release does.

Selling through might mean that some fans get their hands on it, sure. But there are plenty of uneducated buyers in the market place who will get their hands on it just because its new, its exclusive, its expensive and shop owners will know "that guy" who is a for sure sale on high $$ product. And you don't know shit about me, so saying that I'm "so value conscious in everything" is a gross mischaracterization. I'm not the type to sit here and suck my own dick and brag, but suffice to say I'm not a penny pincher when it comes to cigars. And I agree, as a buyer with common sense, I'm not the intended customer.

Would I spend $100 on a cigar? Probably. This one? I don't think so, but if I walked into a B&M and saw it at retail, I'd at least think about it. The supposed work into making these cigars is intriguing from a labor of love perspective.

If I were a bigger fan of his line-up (I really do love the Sobremesa but that's about it) then I would lean closer to buying it. But Saka has some very devout followers so I can see how people would spend the money. Call me crazy for even considering buying a $100 cigar, but I do spend money on things just to burn them and drink them so with the thousands I spend a year on cigars and liquor another $100 in the long run is just a drop in the bucket.

That underlined part right there is where I'm at. To watch a guy go around and talk a big game, smile and want to connect to his supporters, this cigar is the antithesis of that. I thought he was different than that, but this says I'm wrong.

Perhaps venturing full on into CC is what I should be doing instead. At least I feel like I'm not being deceived because I don't see them all over social media.

When you say "Value is always a consideration for me", I used that to say that you're value conscious. Am I wrong?
I really don't understand why you guys are getting offended by someone making something very expensive and limited. It's as if you feel that even if it's not you, the customers are somehow getting shafted here. Makes no sense to me.

Its because they're bored and don't have anything else to talk about. Just note the trolls and move on :) don't take anything they say personally :)
Appreciate the feedback. Not taking anything personally. Some are though with using profanity in response to a characterization that they provided.
