Seems like every ct shade leaf I pull from the bag of my first kit order has tons of holes in it. This thin-ass delicate leaf really isn't what I want anyway, the more I get into cigars and rolling. What are some good recommendations for dark, thicker wrapper leaf, currently?

What else would they be for? you dont have a "wrapper on cigarettes or pipes" but i guess i could be wrong
If I could quote Adam Sandler from Hot Chicks, "And you can put your weed in there."
Yeah I wasn't talking about wrapping a cigarette or a pipe. I've only heard of people using fronto leaf to roll up the devil's lettuce but hey, my knowledge of all things cigar rolling isn't much to brag about.:)

Lol im pretty new also thats why i added "but i could be wrong"
Whatever its for i love this leaf, its difficult to work with but the flavours are just up my street, i rolled a few using it for binder and wrapper and i do like em
Problem is they are thick and the veins are big, for me they are also hard to case, cant seem to get them flat, though i am trying to roll them dry as in not wet them at all when rolling

That Vuelta Abajo is damn damp for filler. When I tubed it up, I got plugged sticks. .......
didn't someone say something to the effect of do not roll with over cased filler?
Maybe a little bit more honesty. I wanna see if I can blend something that fits the things I like. I don't expect my noob self to roll my mecca but hell its a goal that looks like fun.
The most valuable stuff you get will be between you and the leaf. you can do it if you want to. learn from your mistakes. .. honestly, to me, you sound like a good candidate. Let the course take on its own growth.

Just in case you meant me, the only case in which I would use the word "case" would be where it met the dictionary definition of case. So in this case, I demur. I believe what I said was "don't spritz your filler. That's nutz." On the other hand, I do keep thinking I should lay this stuff out around the rolling room here to air dry a tad. It came more binder damp than filler dry -- at least in the case of this first bag I opened. Karl can attest cause he was here. Alas, I'm either too lazy to dry it out or too much in a hurry to roll it up. Which is really the case I can't say.

It's not like I'm gonna smoke through what I already have at the same rate. if I'm trying out my own. I'm definitely going to keep track of cost hell I'm curious about thay.
It's what I call "development cost" and I'd bet you'll have a kilo-buck in leaf before you hit the "perfect" blend.
Why? I'm glad you asked. There are many different leaf out there and when you start combining them there are an infinite number of combinations that you might want to try.

Also these people here on BOTL are a sick bunch and will encourage you to spend every cent you have on leaf to try. :)

We home rollers hardly ever come up with the "perfect" blend. We always want to tweak even our best blends.

But, one you find the base blend you can tweak around that.
I've been at this for less than a year and finally found two blends I really like. OK, three but who's counting. And I'll bet in a year those will be 'old hat' and I'll be onto another blend that is my "best blend."

Having said that, I do think I've saved money after I factor out the NRE. (assuming I'll be doing this for a long time, I'm not assuming this in my cost figures)
I haven't purchased a commercial stick since last July and I used to spend 3-4 hundo a month on CC and NCs.
Now that I've got a pile of leaf I spend 50 to 100 every two months on new leaf. Leaf I don't have and want to try. But I do have a pile of leaf...
