Appearance and Construction: 20 of 20

This estimated 5x 52 stick is nice looking medium brown, velvety smooth looking cigar. Shows some signs of being aged. Not a blemish to this cigar, no cracks, no spots, no holes and very small veins. I could not smell much today as I had mowed the lawn shortly before smoking this stick and pollen was extremely high today. The smell was nice but could not disseminate what it was.

Pre-lit draw 8 of 10

The draw was extremely tight. I had to use a poker to open it up, which cause some cracking of the wrapper. There draw became much better and there was some spicy and peppery flavors that same out. Nice tingle on the lips.

Burning and lighting 12 of 15

The cigar lit up nicely and the cherry stayed going well throughout. The cracks in the wrapper were on the cap side, but this cigar too many had burn issues right away. Required too many touch-ups and the burn rate was too slow (was still tight). The ash was mostly white and a tad flaky.

Flavor, taste, changes in profile: 26 of 30

Nice earthy start with quality woodsy background. Soon there was small amounts of mocha, toffee, and coffee (think Heath bar). Turned to mostly the light bittersweet chocolate and added some ashtray mouth. The last third did not change much to me. Some mixing of the more bitter coffee and dark more bitter chocolate notes. The stick stayed mild and only turned medium toward the very end.

Overall Finish: 9 of 10

The finish was nice mocha on the pallet, mixed with the ashy taste, overall very good.

Summary: 12 of 15

This stick lasted me an hour, putting it down with about 1.5" remaining. There were many very good qualities and many bad ones. I found this stick hard to judge fairly. The smoke was tasty, but the multiple draw and burn issues killed any change to score higher. Like a few others, would want more to test fairly another time. I would estimate cost around the $6 buck range. Thanks for sharing this cigar with me.

Appearance and Construction: 18 of 20

This estimated 6 1/4 x 54 tapered cigar is very light brown (almost blonde) that is fat at one end and goes almost to a point at the other. Very neat looking cigar I must say. The stick was a little veiny and there was a large crack at the wrapper foot. Very silky looking, even in color with no other marks. The smell was like sugar and a little earthy.

Pre-lit draw 8 of 10

The draw was very tight, making me concerned about the conical shape. The draw yielded some earthiness and some bitterness as well. Nice taste on my lips.

Burning and lighting 15 of 15

I was extremely pleased with the burning and overall draw of this stick. (Sometimes I wonder if I am doing something wrong with the issues I been having with other sticks recently. This stick certainly make me feel better about that.) There were 1 or 2 VERY minor touch ups and the burn rate was just right. It purged very well. The ash was medium toward dark grey and held very well.

Flavor, taste, changes in profile: 24 of 30

Sweet herbal and floral notes were given off right away along with mixed nuts. Still there was that lingering bitterness I detected in the dry draw test. Middle way was more sweetness along with the same nuttiness as the start. The last third was less flavorful that the other parts and there was more bitterness. The profile did not change much from the first half inch. The smoke yield was good overall and lessened at the stick became narrower and narrower. It stayed very mild the entire way.

Overall Finish: 7 of 10

I was not particularly fond of the flavors in this stick. The flavors were mostly covered up by the bitterness and took away some of the interesting flavors toward the end. Mostly this is another example of me just liking something else.

Summary: 11 of 15

This stick lasted me 73 minutes, putting it down with about 1 1/3 " remaining. Very interesting looking cigar and would be a better conversation piece than a smoking one or to share with cigar buddies. I was very pleased with the burn of this odd looking cigar. Though flavorful, I did not like the quality of the tobacco nor the bitterness. I would estimate the cost of this all mild cigar about $4 bucks. Thanks for sharing this cigar with me.

If my note is correct, you are player H. Nice couple of sticks you mailed. I too am interested in the cigars and to see how close I am to the review and flavor profile. I am pretty sure of your first stick JL #2 or maybe a Hoyo Epi 2.

Well I'm going to take this to mean it's okay for me to reveal the cigars. If not I'm going to feel really crappy. You're wrong on the first (H1) as it was a Cabaiguan Robusto. I had a good feeling it would score high as they are some of the best cigars out there. MSRP on them is in the $8-$8.50 range. Well worth the price IMHO. The second (H2) was a Padilla Sinature 1932 robusto. This was the one I wasn't too sure if you'd like. They certainly are beautiful cigars. MSRP for them is in the $11-$12 range. This has been fun bro! GL to the players left!:bdaycake:

Yes you are good with posting whatever you want about the sticks you sent and why once I post the review of the second stick.

Yeah, the H1 size was not right to a JL #2 and I confused your stick with another I had in mind that was also very good.

Was my estimated size, flavor profile, and overall description mostly correct? That stick was pretty darn good and glad to know what is was as would consider buying myself. My $8 estimate was on the mark for the first one H1, but way off on estimated price for the second stick H2 I smoked. Never smoked either and that a part of why I wanted to do this: To smoke what others like and learn to understand the qualities of a cigar and have fun in the process. For me, the process has been long but fun and rewarding no doubt. Thanks again for playing.

Very interesting, you thought the Cabaiguan was a Cuban....:smokingme

I might have to check these out.

It was Cubanesque, but mostly I mixed up my thoughts of that stick for another one. Looking back, E2 I am positive what is was, but need to wait on their second stick to be smoked and up the player to let all of us know.

Hmmm....in your review you described it as having 'twang' and that you were sure of 'where it came from' and that it was 'on' and that it had some 'age to it'. Sounded to me like you thought it was a Cuban cigar.

Not to mention that you guessed it was either a Hdm Epi or a JL No.2

Yes, that one I thought was Cuban as well. It had some twang and was on with some age, but that does not always mean Cuban. I mentioned Epi or JL #2 was for E2, I fixed corrected myself already, my bad.

At any rate it was a top notch cigar that I enjoyed very much.

Listen, your reviews were spot on with the way I taste these two I sent you. I've heard alot of people think the 1932's are full bodied, but I've never thought that either. I've always agreed with your assesment. I too get a bit confused as to weather I really like the cigar which was the same as you saying you think you'd need to review more to give an accurate description. Also you said you thought that one (1932) had some age and with that you'd be correct also. I think most the tobacco used for those is supposed to be around 5 yrs old. Now the Cabaiguan, what can you say but wonderful things about those. When I first tried Tatuaje I was really glad to have found a NC cigar I loved outside the Fuente lines. When I tried the Cab, I was glad to be feeling like I was in heaven. They are soo smooth and have so much flavor and every one is just like the last...great. :king:
