  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Just to update everyone, I contacted CB and they are sending me a new box. After removing all of the sticks from the box I have and inspecting them, I decided that the damage was just too much to tolerate for a brand new box of Tatuaje's.

I'm impressed and pleased with CB - will definitely not hesistate to buy anything from them in the future. But, hopefully the new box is better than the first.

Shaggy foot viaje 50/50 ??

I just smoked a 50/50 a few days ago, def. not shaggy foot...
I'm still a Viaje noob, but I believe that NHC had some closed-footed versions of at least some of the lines. Not sure if that was a one-time thing or if they get them regularly.

I like a closed foot -- you get a nice couple draws of pure wrapper ... mmm. Always reminds me of the Tat Black too, probably because it was my first closed-foot cigar. Dang, I wish I had a Black with me, that sounds really good right now, lol.

Absolutely contact them!

Yes, Tats are made well, but there is no guarantee that they won't get worse, since we don't know exactly what conditions caused the problem.

And as Larry said, they need to know...If they are interested in providing quality product to their customers, then they need to investigate what caused this and check remaining stock for similar issues.

That sucks! Sorry, man.

Tatuaje is known to send cracked foots. I would not sweat it unless the cracks are severe and the foot is flaring/swelling. It will burn fine, and does not affect the flavor profile.

A lot of problems with that brand of cigars. Your not the first and probably will not be the last.

Not sure where you guys get your cigars, but I've never seen boxes of cigars that were shipped and stored properly with cracked feet... including Tatuaje as well as any other Pepin rolled cigar... Nor do i have cigars with flared feet... sure once in a while, but not more than a handful, and they are not Tatuaje.

I am sure a lot of people had problems with the Red Tubos. And then there was a very bad smell on some others from the boxes. To me when you have to pay top dollar you should not have to worry about getting crap cigars. I have seen numerous problems on other sites from this brand. It just seems that BOTL has a love affair with Tats. To each their own. Without me paying to much for these there should be tons left over for all you lovers of this brand. I am also amazed at all the Tats being sold by cigar smokers on here and other sites. Wonder why that Is?

I've done this Few times. Why? Cuz bought the cigars I love when I was up, then had to sell them when $ was tight. And frankly they sell the best cuz high demand and they hold value better the most other stuff. Both a plus for the brand. Sorry to squash that poke.

But I will say I've noticed more damage(be I normally very minor, 1/4 cracks in feet, etc.) more often on tats then any other cigar. IMO it's extra delicate leaf and lack of cello. Oh how I wish Pete would cello all his stuff!!! Glad to see some stuff now cello'd that wasn't before(recent box of Havana vi).

Anyways bro, I wonder if your missing some incredible cigars becuz you don't wanna be on a band-wagon. Hope I'm wrong.

I loved them when I first tried them. But now all I seem to get is a very poor product the last times I have bought them. Way over priced also. Just not for me.

Fair enough.
I do wish they were less expensive, I'll agree there.
But they remain my fav, regardless.

I've had the same thing with a few boxes at CB. Tat Reservas were all blown up as well as some LFD's. I've stopped buying stuff there because of the drama. Seriously think it's their crap they forgot to humidify... or was on a pallete that got dropped.

When were the last ones you bought?

The varnish smelling monsters last year were an admitted mistake, and didn't affect the cigar long term, as was putting such a fragile wrapper in a tube (verocu)... no more tatuaje tubos will be made, and the box for the monster release this year is already done from what I've heard.

There were legitimate issue with several special releases in the last year, but I've never heard anyone say that the regular lines faltered.

It has been over 6 months since I last wasted my money on this brand.

Legitimate issues? Sorry not buying that one. If it can not be made properly dont do it. We as cigar smokers are a very small group. Word of mouth is a big part of buying and trying any brand. Any company is going to push and make as many of any product that is hot and selling. It is the same as buying a new electronic item out for sale. The first batches are very good. After that it is get out as many as possible and cut as many corners as possible to reduce cost. Pure and basic business facts. I am sure that some business professionals will argue that but prove me wrong.
