Looks fantastic! I'm super jealous. But one question, why did you hang the door so it opens into the humidor?
Because thats the way it opened before. This closet is in a bathroom, so opening the door the other way would be impossible. Well not impossible, you would just have to walk into the bathroom, close the bathroom door to open the closet door.

Makes sense. I can't wait to see pictures when it's completed!

Humidor is complete for the most part. I have a couple little things to button up, but its been up and running for a couple days now. Holds humidity and temp fantastic. I am quite pleased with the build out, especially since I have hardly zero previous experience in home construction. I can do little things around the house, but this was the first time wiring a electrical plug, cutting base boards, door hinges, crown molding, etc. It all came out excellent, except the crown molding. I will probably have someone come over and fix my screw ups with that, but at this point it isn't a big deal to me as I am the only one who will see the humidor or notice. From start to finish it took about 5 days, however, during those 5 days I was sick with the flu for 4 of them. Without being sick it probably would have taken 2 full days of working on it. Most of the pictures I took are shown in this thread, and I added 2 more to show the RO system I purchased and the Accumonitor mounted on the wall. Some of the little things I need to tie up still is the wiring for the Accumonitor and Humidifier.

Below is a list of items that I used to complete the build of the humidor. For the wood I just listed my total price as it will be different for everybody depending on the size of the room they are converting, shipping to your place, etc. The size of this room was 66" long x 60" wide and 9' high for reference.

$2265 - Spanish Cedar ¼” plywood, crown molding, baseboards, door casing, corner trim, flat trim to cover the joints where the plywood sheets meet, ¾” Spanish Cedar shelves, associated brackets to hang the shelves. Purchased from www.customcreation.net

$180 – New door with glass middle – Purchased from Home Depot

$290 – Accumonitor setup for room humidor – Purchased from Cigar Solutions (RonC)

$50 – Humidifier – Purchased from Target

$160 – 4 stage reverse osmosis system with auto float for the humidifier – Purchased from www.purelyh20.com

$30 – electrical wire, wall plug, etc to install a wall plug inside the closet – Purchased from Home Depot

$30 – BIN Primer

$50 – misc extras, door weather stripping, odds and ends.

Total $3,055 approx.

2-4 days to season it depending on the humidifier you are using and its output.
wouldn't the wood be more of a restricting fact than the amount of humidity you can actually get into the room? I'm not sure at what rate the cedar would take in the humidity, but I would think that cannot be sped up?

Any pics of the humidity system? Humidor looks great BTW!!

Not sure Danilo. The place I got the wood from says to run the system for 48 hrs and then stock after that time and everything should be fine. Don't think there would be any issues anyways, since it's a active humidification system it will just keep pumping out humidity until its not needed.

No picture of the humidifier, but its just a $50 unit from Target. Any cool misting unit is fine.

wow!

curious, what system changes the temperature as needed? and are you in cold climate or warm climate? I live in warm, and would need a system to cool the closet.

I live in Vegas, so pretty much a hot climate. The closet is located in a room that has it's own HVAC system and thus will be kept at the same temperature I keep the other room.

I would think if the room is small enough you could run a much larger setup to those they use in their cooled cabinets with their peltier coolers, but that would be a question for RonC or Matt at Avallo.

Great job there James....you need to post some pic's of it stocked!
Pictures of it stocked won't be posted. :)
