That does suck B, people never should have opened the shipping box, much less the cigar box, I am sure someone has an empty box they can send you!
Not gonna sweat the box, just gonna hurry them in a tray, and now I wanna smoke one so guess this is a great reason.

I would be pissed, dont get me wrong but probably not as mad as you are about this whole thing. The obviously did something they shouldnt have but when you say you hope something good comes of this, what do you mean? Should they go to jail? Or pay a huge fine?

Why repair the box and have it vacuum sealed? Put the cigars into a different box or leave them as is.... Shit happens and it could have been a lot worse bro.
That's easy to say when it didn't happen to you. I take pride in all of the items I buy. I take great care of them and like my things to look nice. Now I would never do this to a cigar box of mine, so I wouldn't want it done by someone else to a box of mine. Yes. it's only a box but it should be my decision of what condition it should be in.

Clearly they tried to pull the nail, stock, rather than just pulling on the lid so that the nail slides out.

Beat me to it...

If you want the box for sentimental reasons now, I can send you an empty box. The only thing missing will be the cigars and the little nail that holds it closed - I slowly pulled the lid until enough of th enail showed to remove it with pliers, so it's damage free, and the My Father sticker is very neatly sliced along the contact lines...

Sorry to hear about this, mate!

They were wrong for opening mail not addressed to them, plain and simple.

Glad the exchange didn't go ugly and that sticks are ok.

From my experience, these two will get a stern talking to by the Postal Inspector General that if they are anything like my neighbors who experienced this, will be more than enough to persuade them never to try this again.

They will probably get a visit from the Inspector or a letter explaning that willfully and knowingly opening and/or tampering with mail not addressed to is a federal offense punishable by no more that 30days in jail and/or fine no more than $5000

Yup, I'm with Justin on this. At least you got the sticks. The box looks beat up, but as long as the sticks are OK, I'd leave it at that. I'm sure later on down the road you can find a brother willing to part with an empty box to replace the damaged one.

Im glad I got the sticks, but I'm still pissed the box is ruined. I normally don't keep the boxes, but I'm out of drawers to keep my cigars in.

PM sent guys

I know Brian very well and I know the cigars are WAY more important to him than the box. I am 100% sure it bothers him more on the principles of the whole thing, and looking at a busted up box in the humi is a cruel reminder of how some people can be. We pay good money for our cigars and it's a hobby and a passion, so we like things to be a certain way. At the end of the day I am sure B won't even sweat it since he has the smokes, but I definitely understand his need to vent a little on this one.

If there were a varnish smell I wouldn't vacuum seal it until I had aired it out, certainly. But I have heard more people say there was no smell than that there was, so I guess it's hit or miss. If there were smell I would remove the cigars to a ziplock, air out the box until the smell was gone, and transfer them back.

Ifin it were me.

Wow, that really sucks, bro! I can really understand where you're coming from too. For me, it wouldn't really matter what was in the box, I'd be upset at someone opening and damaging my mail based on principle.
