• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Palio or Xikar?

I have both. Both are great, but I always prefer the Palio. And Mark at cigarmony.com is definitely the go-to guy for these.

    What do you smoke with?

 Water if possible, but always my cutter and lighter.

Recovering old gems: Restoring & Rehumidifying

Yup, what these guys all said. Based on my experience, it isn't worth the effort, no matter how expensive or good those cigars once were. But nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?

    Cheap Tats @ Local B&M

The Series P is an adequate DPG smoke if you don't mind short/mixed filler cigars and if you let them sleep for a good year or more. FOTT, there are lots better $5 cigars out there, IMO.

    Storing Tubed Cigars

Yeah, what Tubaman said. However, are the glass tubes or aluminum tubes or aluminum tubes lined with cedar? If they're lined with cedar, I'd take the caps off (or just loosen 'em) and leave 'em in the tubes. If they're not lined with cedar, I'd take 'em out of the tubes.

The only people who say that are newbies.

    Library Editions

Yeah, they're not intended to be used as a substitute for a humidor. They were made to sit in a humidified cabinet that looked like an old-fashioned lawyer's bookcase. I don't know if they're still available, but you can always stick these boxes in any humidor (or coolerdor etc.) that is big...

    Favorite cigar lately?

As of a few weeks ago, my current favorite became the Edge Torpedo in the Sumatra wrapper. The Sumatra Edges aren't all that easy to find, but I get mine from Holt's. :hearteyes

    Car Cigar Ashtrays.

Glad it worked. BTW, it works better, the faster you move. I'm actually kinda surprised that it worked while sitting still.

Damn, and I thought it was a pacifier! :smokingme Seriously, I echo the question about max size, and what's your expected price point?

    Car Cigar Ashtrays.

I use an ashtray that I got at Holt's that fits in the cupholder. It looks like a black plastic cup with a long extension with a groove that holds the cigar when it's not in my hand. I tried to find it on Holt's website just now but came up empty. Anyway, I really like it. As to air...

Can I take my Palio Cutter on d'plane?

Yes, you are allowed to carry it on. However, many TSA employees are idiots or worse, so I always print out the list of allowed items from the TSA website and bring the print-out with me.

Do you think this sampler is worth $60?

Yeah, what the other guys said. At $5 a pop, they're not so cheap that you'd have to grab it just on economic grounds. Of course, if those are cigars that you really like, that's a whole different story. Personally, I'd pass. There are plenty of great cigars out there at about $5 or so a...

    Bead compatibility question

What I do, since it's hard to see the color of the beads when they're in a container like the Puck, is I use two. I leave one dry to absorb moisture, and I periodically add distilled H2O to the other without worrying about whether I am adding too much or too often. I rely on the dry one to...
